Subtract the two extra inches from the morning of the 1st that actually fell on the 28th of February and add another inch for the last couple of days and it looks like it'll be about perfectly average there. Snoqualmie Falls should be a tiny bit below average when you subtract that February rainfall.

And it was the 5th consecutive drier than average March at OLM and SEA. Likely portending another extreme dry season as has routinely been the case lately.

Not sure how accurate the 2 extra inches from February is... but the original point was you greatly underestimate our ability to end up normal or wetter than normal out here.    You did it again a couple weeks ago for March.   😃

I went out for 5 hours last night (well, I slept in my car for part of it and had the automatic trigger going) to shoot the northern lights. The best aurora was 9:00-9:30 p.m., and was decently visible to the naked eye (from what I hear), but I got out there about 9:45 and there was nothing basically the whole night. The one exception was for two minutes just after 11 p.m. when I shot this red pillar which was very faintly visible to the naked eye.

Wow, that's a great shot :) Glad your area was able to clear out nicely

The vast majority of the Puget Sound region appears to be wrapping up a drier than normal month. Including several stations near you.

Impressive rainstorm on February 28, though!

Yeah... March has been drier than normal in the Puget Sound region.   Finally.

But again... you underestimated this area.    👍

Kinda hard to do when no single long term station exists at your backyard.

Has indeed been a little wet along the coastline and the Cascade crest down to Central OR, but it hasn't translated to the valleys or the basin whatsoever. Indicative of the pretty weak forcing and precip dynamics this month overall.

Yep... pretty quiet month overall.   And yet still wet out here.  As usual.

And that is why I was referring to Cedar Lake with a long history.

Going to end up with 4.35" here which is about 25% above average for the month (funny how perfectly this map captures it). Of course I'm still below average on the year so far so don't worry, no arguments about it being a wetter than normal 2022 here.

In a climate that is getting warmer and wetter... wetter than normal is sort of becoming the new normal.     The last decade has been exceedingly wet.

Somewhat off topic, but I was looking it up earlier today and I'd forgotten how "normal" the winter of 2015 was precipitation wise in Western WA, despite leading into the worst drought/snow drought we've had in the last couple decades. I'm too lazy to go back in the archives and look, but I wonder how much complaining there was about having near average rainfall in 2015.

Interesting that your location ended up wetter than normal this month unlike here…yet are below normal for the year while we’re above normal here.
I find these precipitation maps pretty cool to look at…looks like I’m right on the border of below and above normal rainfall for March.

Circulation missed me to the south by a few miles. Don’t think it was actually on the ground during the closest pass, from what I could decipher. Just some heavy rain and a few lightning bolts here.

There was a huge wind gust that just missed me as well. Could hear it roaring on the other side of Cabin John Creek but just a few puffs of wind here. Troll job.

Everything is ok so far. For the price of the house it's hard to beat. Of course a few quirks to get past, might have to replace the windows eventually (two of them barely open and close without breaking), and at least the heating/AC are both in good working order.

Lots of bugs and they're pretty much a year round thing. I'm looking into peppermint and other natural ways to repel certain pests. At my other place in Klamath yellow jackets would hang around the garbage, the plastic types even! They weren't even metal, what gives. 😛

Nice that there can be years that universally provided throughout the US. I noticed the 1992-1993 winter were big on both sides.

Out of curiosity, when was the last time it snowed in Seattle in April?

The 2007-2013 period had several lowland snowfalls in April. It's not that uncommon in C-Zone areas and of course above 500'.

Last noteworthy, widespread event was April 18-20, 2008. Pretty much all of western OR and WA saw at least falling snow.

April 2008, especially in the northern part of the city into Snohomish county. Some 6"+ totals on the higher hills up there.

That was a weird month. Very cold overall, save for a single day heatwave to an impressive 79°F on the 12th. Snowfall, and the coldest days of the month, followed exactly seven days later. ~80°F and snow in the same week, particularly in that order, is highly anomalous for Seattle. April is the month to do it, I suppose.

2008, 2008... hmm.... That number rings a bell ;)
