Looks like summer and the dry season is here for all intents and purposes. Right on time I suppose.

Those are actually plum blossoms. Japanese cherry blossoms are larger (and come a week or two later).

Good to know!

Aren't these Japanese cherry trees at UW in Seattle?

Definitely. Prunus yedoensis, Yoshino Cherry. Seattle has a warmer climate (at least, this time of year) than North Bend. Everything is advanced by a week or two compared to where you (or I) live. Those plum trees in North Bend look much like the ones in my neighborhood.

It's called clown range for a reason.

I don't know if we have any of those trees out here... but I think there are a few that look like that and they are actually in bloom right now.    I will try to get a pic of one in NB later.      I drove to SEA and back today to drop off my wife and did not really notice much difference in the vegetation during the trip.    I assume it takes a little longer out here to come out of dormancy... but Seattle had more cold inversion days so maybe that equalized everything this year.

Buds are starting to swell on the cherry trees up this way but no blooms yet. Maybe next week.

The loop of 6-hour max temps from the GFS shows we might be starting to gain ground with spring now... although its an ebb and flow as usual.

Those yoshino cherries grow naturally in the wild here (they have spread rapidly over the last 10-15 years) and now many of the wooded areas are awash in blooms. It is amazing. Will have to take pictures on Thursday.

Looks like a major tornado ripped through New Orleans. Ugly looking photos.

A wedge hitting an urban area never ends well.

Yes that is.

Interesting... so they are blooming in Seattle and North Bend at the exact same time and at the same stage.

People have been having fun with this video on the Chevy truck forums on FB!

I just noticed that the red truck does not actually drive away... it just appears that way from the perspective of the camera in a moving car.   Sounds like he did drive away eventually but I don't think it happened in that video.

I like this one better... it makes it sound like the commercial was on the radio while the tornado was being filmed and the point in the song lyrics is just perfect for the situation.

Yup.

Just a random tree in a small playground.  🙂

I notice that tree every spring and its always seems to be at its most brilliant right when the UW trees are peaking and I wondered if it was the same thing.

I like that... good soaking for SoCal.    Getting pretty late for that to happen down there.

The sun was only out here for about an hour, but it certainly bumped up the temperature. Started the day in the mid 40s with 0.20" of rain. Between 1 and 2 p.m. the sun popped out and the temperature sky rocketed to 61F. By 3 p.m. the clouds were back and we were back in the low to mid 50s.
