I’m not sure I can recall a worse spring weather wise. My grass is still not needing mowed. Trees don’t have much of any leaves yet. We’ve pretty much not had back to back nice days all spring. It’s been windy as hell. I’m about ready to move south. And no end in sight. Long range shows more of the same.  At least we’re getting plenty of much needed rain though. Just would love to get some consistently nice weather for a change.

OH MY GOD LITERALLY. I went for a run this morning and i almost cried because it was absolutely freezing. It’s just cold 5 days a week and like 60 on the ‘warm’ days. I might go down there with you if you do lol

That said, on the one “warm” day this past weekend, I took some pretty cool pictures of the clouds after the storms came through at an abandoned mansion we found in the middle of nowhere.

Buds came on the Silver Maple trees here in C.IA about around the 10th or so April-- 77F on the 10th and 82F on the 12th. That's slightly behind normal--- but Since then it's almost like they have regressed back inside the stem after losing the red things that clog rain gutters. I can't remember leaves being this late though I will probably have to mow my front lawn here May 1st in between rounds of rain which will be the latest first mow since 2003 when I moved into the place.

I know the feeling you guys are experiencing out east.  It's such a dreadful feeling when you lack the sunshine and warmth.  You basically are not motivated to do anything but stay indoors bc you can't really go out and enjoy nature.   Humans need that all important vitamin D from the sun.  I'm a firm believer in the natural supplementation that mother earth provides.  I'd be going nuts if I was still back home.  Very grateful to be out here in the PHX valley.

Well, we didn't achieve the 100F mark yesterday due to high cirrus clouds and some haze from the wild fires that blew in from the north.  The avg date for the 1st 100F is May 2nd and I think after this weekend into next week, it's going to late bc the forecast calls for low/mid 90's.

Yesterday saw record snowfall amount and some of the coldest maximums for any April 26 in west Michigan. The official high at Grand Rapids and Lansing was 45 that was the 6th coldest reading for the date at both locations. At Muskegon the official high was 43 and that was the 4th coldest maximum for the date and at Holland their official high of 42 was their 2nd coldest maximum for the date. At Grand Rapids and Muskegon there trace of snow that fell was tied the record for the most for the date. and at Lansing their trace of snow fall was a tie for 2nd most. The overnight low looks to be 30 at Grand Rapids, 33 at Lansing and 31 at Muskegon. The overnight low here at my house was 30 and at this time with partly skies the current temperature here is 31. Today will be yet another well below average with highs in the mid 40's.

The reason why this is happening is because of a now consistent -NAO, I wished it started in December than now!

EDIT: The AO is also negative too, which is explaining the sustained cold in the Midwest and OV.

Negative, no sandy beaches but only rocky.  There are plenty of state park beaches but not the nice sand you want to see.  All the lakes here are pretty much man made, except for some of the lakes up in the mountains.  The lakes are primarily reservoirs that hold a lot of the fresh water that gets filled up from the spring snow melt up in the Rockies.

Definitely a firm believer in vitamin-D. Supplement with it during the winter and it works wonders for my mood and general sense of well-being.

As for summer, kind of a different story here vs the Midwest. We’re almost guaranteed to torch during the summer. I’ll enjoy this cool spring weather since it won’t be around much longer.

Finally places in Nebraska are going to get some much needed drought relief.  This won't end the drought of course, but will definitely help make a difference.

I see part of NW North Dakota is in extreme drought.  I would think the 2 to 4 feet of snow they just got will eat away at that shortly.

Colder temps returning along w some snowshwers again for late Tuesday nite and especially for Wednesday. No accumulations are expected, but, it continues to not want to end this Wintry scenario. Wednesday highs will struggle in the low 40s, so a  very blustery day. Low temps fall into the 20s.Temps do recover by the end of the week and especially by the upcoming weekend.

Given enough time amigo, all temps eventually recover.

But this is just more BS "spring 2022"

I know bud. This is one wacky, cold Spring. Wish we had this -nao that we are currently experiencing back in December. Bad timing I guess. I cannot believe we are having wc values, whereas just a couple of days ago, we had a heat index of around 80F. Hang in there, hopefully May turns warmer and sunnier for that matter.

In general this is our 2nd latest mowing start in 15 yrs. April 2018 was not only cold but dry. But seems the tree foilage  is even later  this year than 2018?

meanwhile - in the Great North Woods of canoe country -

today's Modis looks like the dead of winter.

red square is Gabbro/Bald Eagle Lakes SE of Ely,MN-- I have a trip there in less than 3 weeks.

Rainy Lake far NW-- Lake Vermillion center. Over half of these lakes on avg should have open water now. Lakes closer to Superior will likely have ice the week leading up to Memorial Day weekend as things look now. Simply amazing.

Welp, looks like that storm yesterday produced an EF1 tornado as well as golfball sized hail and hurricane force straight line winds. The tornado traveled 6 miles.

Again..this area wasn’t in *any* SPC severe risk category. Not even general t-storm/see text. Insane.

Yep. I felt like wearing shorts to work when it was 76F. Good thing I didn't. Now 54 and raw with E winds gusting to near 40mph.  What an odd spring.

OK for April 27th the official high at Detroit City airport of 43 is the 2nd coldest for any April 27th. It was the high was 42 at Flint that was also the 2nd coldest there. At Detroit Metro the high was 46 and that was the 9th coldest. So all in all a very cold April 27th and remember that was was with sunshine for most if not all of the day.

Man, that's brutal!  You still have to wear a winter jacket in those kinda temps.  Yesterday, was an abysmal day in Chitown as ORD had a high of only 41F.  One of the coldest high temps for the date.

A lot of records were broken this morning. My area was probably one of them. I even saw icicles hanging from roof-tops for crying out loud. I saw a clip of Chicago yesterday on the news and the reporter had on gloves and a scarf. Wc had to be biting atm especially w all the high buildings there and the wind was gusty too. So far, March and April were too cold and not much of any Spring yet. Wow. Hopefully May can give in some warmer weather.

In the meantime, I am thinking AZ weather.....sunshine and warm temps. 😀
