.35 here yesterday with some scattered showers possible later today.  The fog this morning was as thick as any I've had in the last few years.  I had to run the wipers on the truck just to keep the moisture off and visibility might have been a 100 ft or so.  The forecasted high today is 76 but the sun will have it's work cut out to burn off this fog.

My gauge reported .01" of moisture from the fog it was so thick here overnight!

What was the CPC forecast for Spring of 2022' 6  months ago?  It's been epic cold in the N Central Plains lately, no?   not ever seen before in recorded history in several locations . I say the drought in NEB eases drastically based  on teleconnections changing and that the CPC needs to readjust.  AGAIN -- CPC for late winter in Upper Midwest last Fall was for near to above normal -- they have little clue past two weeks and we all know thats on how they flip flop--- but few know the difference.

The two loudest sounds known to man: a gun that goes bang when it is supposed to go click and a gun that goes click when it is supposed to go bang.

18z HRRR... kinda yikes if it's right.

The exact placement can change wildly from run to run, though.  The two-county tier in far southern Iowa was the bullseye at 12z and now gets nothing on the 18z.

00z HRRR - It has become pretty consistent with the placement, but it has backed off of the extreme totals.

Radar looks decent already over sw IA, but the heavy stuff isn't expected to develop until late tonight and not reach Cedar Rapids until sunrise.  I'd be happy with 1-2".

Current temp is 68 the average high for today is 67.  I should top out around 83 today with gusty south winds.  Feels like thunderstorm weather.

Woke up this morning to 66 degrees with a 62 dew.  Very unusual around here at this time of the year.  Had .05" last night with the thin line of storms around 10 PM with thunder and lightning .  Drove to school this morning in drizzle with the south wind starting to howl.  Headed to 95 degrees with gusts to 60 MPH and humidity plummeting to 20% or less.  Hopefully tonight the line of storms can drop 0.50" or more.  We'll see.  The one thing you can say about this area, it is never boring.  Many times frustrating, but never boring.

Happy Earth Day!  I am One with Nature and all of its beauty.  Speaking of beauty, it's going to be a beautiful day here in the "Valley of the Sun" as temps will ONLY top out in the upper 70's.  What a change it will be, but it will be accompanied by very windy conditions as we have a Wind Advisory issued for the valley.  Nonetheless, I'll be enjoying this step down in temps today and through the weekend.  It's very likely we will achieve the 1st 100F of the season at Sky Harbor next Tue/Wed.

It's unlikely the big rain will pan out here.  This event ended up north of where most models predicted.  I'm at about 0.60" now with only a couple light rumbles so far.  I'm just hoping the central Iowa storms can hold together and get me over an inch.

I just hit 1.00" of rain.  I really hope the strong line two counties to the west holds together.

Downsloping making quick work of temperatures this morning. Went from 45 to 70 in a few hours.

Not a cloud in the sky to be found.

Cannot wait for severe weather. Really looking forward to some Spring-like Thunderstorms. So far, the extended shows zilch. As a matter a fact, it gets quite chilly next week.

Yes, very spotty.  Our local total was only .05 -.07".  Better than nothing which has been our theme.

But some areas really cashed in, up to .25-.5 inch of rain

@TomWow..sounds like ur having a blast in Arizona. Enjoy it!

Btw: Did you also experience  a couple of nights ago the stars that were aligned in a straight line. (really early in the morning) I did. It was an awesome sight to see. They were Jupiter, Mars, Saturn and I believe it was Venus. Luckily my skies were clear at that time.

Yup, I’m loving every minute of it out here…just a great vibe and the weather is gorgeous.

I didn’t know about the stars and wish I did…dang!
