Depends on what you define as African American History - either you believe in critical race theory/the 1619 Project or the TRUE history of slavery (which is no longer taught in most schools), such as that slavery was practiced in all cultures and that White people, mostly Christians were the first ones to abolish it

If you do believe in CRT though, don't call yourself a liberal

https://newdiscourses.com/tftw-liberalism/

Surprisingly for many (because it is a left-wing ideology) Critical Social Justice is particularly hostile to liberalism. It should be thought of, in fact, as being openly anti-liberal, not just illiberal in form or by chance. Indeed, Critical Social Justice carries with it the very (ruthless) critique of liberalism that it has inherited from its philosophical precursors, including Marxism, Critical Theory (see also, Frankfurt School), and postmodernism (see also, applied postmodernism). Generally speaking, Critical Social Justice regards liberalism as a sociopolitical order created by white, Western men so as to exclude others from full participation in society while entrenching and increasing their own power.

Liberalism most definitely was thought up by dead White guys.

As was Marxism.

They're talking about AP African American history.  Stop always going on random tangents unrelated to the topic at hand.  Why must all your posts go back to Marx?

It only took them 1800 years!  Great people.

And even when slavery was abolished, those "christians" treated them literally like second and third class citizens.

I'm assuming the syllabus for AP African American History must have the critical race theory as part of the curriculum, since it's a college course. Professors and most college students hate conservative students and call them Nazis, racists, and fascists, as they called the girl, Amala Ekpunobi, in the picture I posted. Remember, she used to be a leftist. Another guy, Will Witt tried to talk to students negatively about socialism on a college campus and one student called the police on him.

The 1619 project is being taught in some elementary schools today and there's a great Hulu series on it if you want to watch it. Basically CRT says that America was a total failure, it was really founded in 1619 instead of 1776 and that it must be dismantled and rebuilt from scratch.

As for history though, the Native American tribes attacked and enslaved each other and pretty much every culture and every race had slavery sometime in their history. But today there's crazy college professors who say everything was peaceful until the colonists came and destroyed everything. Also it was Black people who sold the slaves to the Europeans in the first place.

Yes. And? Is that supposed to justify their genocide? As if the colonists "liberated the savage natives from themselves"?

No serious person says that.

White supremacist talking point. And yes, I know, even Bill Maher repeats it. "The blacks did it to themselves and sold each other out, so let's place a disproportionate amount of blame on them and lift the guilt off from the white slaveowners and buyers." A stone's throw away from "Slavery was the blacks' own fault". Don't fall into that trap, Marine Layer.

Lol. What's your point?

What's the name of the Hulu show?

So you think that the Africans who sold their own people to the European slave traders are not at least partially guilty?

The name of the show is The 1619 Project, and it's based on the highly controversial essays written by Nikole Hannah-Jones.

But there are actual examples of professors saying things like the nuclear family is a structure of white supremacy. And there's accounts of Black people who felt hopeless because they were taught that they are victimized by White people and once they stopped feeling sorry about themselves, they felt liberated and were able to succeed. Amala Ekpunobi is one of them. People on the left also say that hard work and meritocracy are "white values". Basically they are so negative and unforgiving about America's wrongs while ignoring the good things that they are actually discouraging people from succeeding today.

Why would so many people from all around the world risk their lives to migrate to such a racist country as the far left claims it to be?

Larry Elder has a joke. What do you call a happy Black person? A conservative.

Corrupt rulers and traders, which exist in every society and culture as you yourself noted, will do that sort of thing if they see it as profitable or beneficial to themselves (or their elite group). This existed in Africa then and still does today, as well as everywhere else they can get away with it to such an extreme degree. The talking point you are espousing, however, blames the entire race of people instead of the corrupt segment of their ruling class. It is a common white supremacist talking point because they anticipate that you will not engage in critical thinking, taking your bolded statement at face value without any other thought, thus making it easier to demean and dehumanize a race of people they consider to be "lesser" than their own.

Basically critical race theory believes that capitalism and the ideas of classical liberalism lead to societies where white people are in power and exploit other races. It says that capitalism is racist in itself and must be totally overthrown and replaced with something else. The problem is that it does not define what that "something else" is.

Today there are diversity trainings saying if you are white you are an oppressor whether you intend to be or not and if you are black you are a victim. While most people would agree that it is true that white people have privilege in America, such negative and cynical views are totally stereotypical and do exactly what racism is against: categorize people by the color of their skin. Two wrongs don't make a right. It just causes more negativity and hostility and fuels more racism.

There are numerous stories of Black people who have felt restrained by this narrative of oppression and victimhood. They may even perceive it as a new form of slavery. Below is one such example.

A lot of us colored people think the diversity training is stupid too, and ineffective, just FYI. I hope you don't think we're all liberals, a lot of us consider that an insult. It was a corporate PR decision, not a people's decision (at least not most sane, serious people). Removing Aunt Jemima off the syrup labels does not help us, hell, a lot of us grew up on that and we don't want to see those symbols gone. Meanwhile the creepy Quaker Oats guy continues to stare at us (not that I want him gone either, just pointing out the humor in all of this).

A lot of white people are on our side on race issues in this country, but extremists have been emboldened and I believe our corporate oligarch ruling class shares a huge portion of the blame for that. They want us fighting each other instead of fighting them. But I also don't buy the "becoming a black conservative freed my mind" argument either. I have black relatives who have become practically delusional with that mentality (but later came back down to Earth, while despising the liberal class as well).

Bingo.  There are so many examples/videos of ordinary left of center people who think all the woke huffing and puffing nonsense is laughable.  They are just as pissed about it as the right.

Both sides are too chicken shite to confront the lunatics on their side, and as such, the other side thinks everyone on that side is like that.

I would literally vote for a sock puppet if it could vocally tell the fringe to shove it and successfully advance moderate legislation that most people already want or are willing to compromise to achieve.

The Elites are those who are behind all of this.

Mass shooting in LA during the Lunar New Year, they jumped to conclusions until they realized that the one they thought was the oppressed was the gunman.

I like the questions the reporters asked Greta!😂🤣 At first she mostly giggled at their questions, but later admitted to flying in private jets etc. I think I'm even smarter than she's is. Or she  doesn't know what she's advocating and usually reading from a script from her handlers, or ...? But these are the questions reporters need to be asking the globalist elite WEF hypocrites.

If you looked past the URL, you would notice I posted based on the expository nature of the topic.  It was not an op-ed or some slanted hit piece.  I've noticed your downvotes on my posts lately.  I'm not sure you are the right person to be the barometer of what is woke or not based on your obvious biases.

I expected someone would post some fact check after I posted that!😀 At least rebel news exposed the fact that Greta really doesn't have a clue and that climate alarmists are contributing more to global warming than regular folks! I often dismiss fact checks that Google, Wikipedia, etc come up with as they are also very biased and google filters search results. I try to use DuckDuckGo or Brave as hopefully they won't track me as much. You know as well as I do that many of the globalist elites that met at Davos are a bunch of hypocrites! You should have heard John Kerry spout off at the WEF! Even ex CNN guru Brian Stelter was there. Anyway, many of their meetings are behind closed doors that regular people are not supposed to know what they are about.

As to bias, all media outlets have it. even being centrist is a choice, therefore a bias. So I guess bias shouldn’t be considered a primary objection to a source, veracity should. It also depends on your personal bias and the Overton Window. I have noticed that the window of acceptable discourse has moved considerably since my younger days.

Also I never have followed Rebel News though I've heard of them before. Just recently I've seen some videos from them and I thought it's pretty good and funny. 😋

The left says capitalism causes greed and hate speech incites violence, so it should be excluded from the 1st amendment, but the list of what they consider to be "hate speech" is continually growing, e.g.

There are only two genders

Ladies and gentlemen

Master bedroom vs. primary bedroom

I have heard the Democrats want to pass a law to criminalize hate speech. But that's going a bit too far. All they want to do is control people in the name of "tolerance" and "compassion".

At they same time they are not pushing to ban movies with gun violence.
