Think we’ve got a good shot at snow forsure early tomorrow morning considering we were already close to snow as it is with the precip earlier. Hopefully some of us get lucky and it sticks.

The low takes a good track for PDX Metro. Great timing as well with the low tracking through the Willamette Valley just before Monday sunrise. Precipitation rates look solid also. A lot of things need to come together for an April snowstorm west of the Cascades but things are surprisingly aligning well.

It's kind of nice tracking this in a time of year where I don't even think of lowland snow a realistic possibility. Keeps the expectations really low. I didn't even pay close attention to the models until today when we got to within the 48 hour mark.  If we actually get something out of this, that would be awesome but if not I can't be too upset for getting no snow on April 11th.

This event is cool because I don't particularly care where the snow lands (if it even does)-- the fact that we're even talking about this in our area in April is great. No matter what happens watching this event evolve will be fun.

Some slushy snow on the front patio at home this morning.    It looks like there was a big burst of snow around 3:30 a.m. and everything was covered and caked... but since then there has been a little more wind and there is still snow in the air but the snow on the patio is melting.     ECMWF shows a decent SW wind all day which is not favorable for significant snow accumulation in my area.   

And here is the 06Z ECMWF for the next system... just crazy.    This is using the conservative Kuchera model and the amounts are still insane down south.     This is just 24-hour snow totals from 5 p.m. today through 5 p.m. on Monday.

When was the last time an actual lowland snowfall occurred in the middle of April? This seems pretty anomalous, assuming even by pre-WWII standards.
