It’s happened up in the PSCZ a few times like MossMan mentioned but sticking April snow elsewhere in the lowlands is incredibly rare especially once you get south of the Puget sound area. What the models are showing for down here would be pretty much unheard of this late in the season

Yeah another Nina with terrible

snowpack. I remember going up into the hills I believe on Easter Sunday that year and it was snowing, could have my years mixed up, but it was one of the years I was in high school.

Justin (BLIsnowman) mentioned a Portland event in the 1960s, I believe, that brought snow down to just above sea level in mid April.

However, PDX has never recorded measurable snowfall in April, and neither has EUG. SEA has three times, with the big one being a couple inches in mid April 1972. OLM also saw a couple inches with that, while SLE recorded .1".

So as far as widespread lowland snow in mid April, 1972 is probably the standard to beat.

Apparently the Seattle City Office recorded a trace of snow in very early May in both 1925 and 1949.

Probly depends on location. This area has never had a snow in April. We are just simply too far south and at a low enough elevation that it cannot happen.

Haha wow. It doesn't show any measurable snow here for that date on ACIS but that's hilarious. I was at UofO during that year and have no memory of snow in April 2008.

It’s a pretty notable event, and you know how EUG is at recording snow, sometimes they do, sometimes they don’t.

Of topic but yesterday I was in Lowes and a dude walked out with probably 2000 bucks worth of electric tools in his cart that were not pd for and the workers at Lowes aren't supposed to do anything.  I thought about it and followed the looser out to his truck grabbed the cart, pushed him away and against his truck and I pushed it back into the store. Yeah it was probably dumb to do that but more people need to stand up to this bullshit.  He didn't want anything I was about to unleash on him if he gave me any trouble.

Yes, April 22, 1961, so basically late April. Battle Ground recorded 3" as did Troutdale. PDX had a 43/33 day with a lot of morning snow that didn't stick. Interestingly that was the only measurable snow of that winter in the Portland metro.

Portland just may end up being in the sweet spot. Obviously these 10:1 ratios have no chance of actually happening but come on its April.

37 degrees after a dusting of snow and 32 lastnight.  This low coming in tonight has some serious potential for someone to get a foot of snow just north of the track. Even me being this far north we are in a good spot for the wrap around moisture.

This feels like December 2021 all over again. This all looks pretty but 925's never drop below -1C and most of the precip comes in with surface temps of 35-37F so color me extremely skeptical.

Oh, all these maps are definitely way overdone as far as actual accumulating snow at valley locations. I'm just glad to see the bullseye close to me so I can at least see some April snow falling in the air.

Yeah no doubt that you'll see some significant snow in the air which is always fun!
