Looks like PDX has locked up its first sub 50 April high temp in a decade. Tomorrow's record low max of 50 should go down easily too.

Nope.   Might even buy a rental house or condo down here.   Make some money and have a getaway place.  Isle of Palms is simply a lovely place and a sure rental market.  Probably similar to the Georgia Islands you love so much.   At least until the next Hugo hits.   But what the hell... why not?   That might not happen for another 50-100 years and I won't be here to see it happen.

DP of 28 at SEA.  That adds even more fuel to the fire for snow down south tonight as that dry air gets pulled into the mix.  That low dp makes the current temp of 45 at SEA even more impressive.  Can't wait to see how cold the nights get later in the week.  Maybe some history will be made this week in a few ways.

Yup, only 46F here so we have broken our coldest high for the date which was previously 49F from 1991.

Hopefully the 32-33F from the GFS and GRAF end up verifying instead of the slightly warmer Euro. That degree or two change will make a huge difference in snow accumulation potential obviously. 

I have a hard time imagining quite as much will fall as snow as some models are showing, but I think 4 inches has a really good shot at happening.

I do love the Georgia Isles...with the exception of the oppressive humidity in the summer/fall. If it weren’t for that, I’d consider retiring there.

It definitely is the perfect climate for you. No such thing as a “cold front” there during the summer.

I like to call these record cold highs, or coolest high since, etc. Low max, max low can sound confusing to the average viewer.

Some places could have a shot at coldest max temp ever recorded after April 10 later in the week.  If Portland gets snow tonight, I will be interested to see how much it weighs the highs down tomorrow.

PDX discussion hinting at some slantwise convection in the metro area. That could mean some lightning embedded within.

Just last Fall we had some slantwise convection embedded within an atmospheric river, saw a couple lightning strikes right overhead.

Was surprised to see that record be only -9 from average high as of that date. 

Maybe extremes differ by location. I had a high -24 from average on 5/20/2016 when I hit only 42 in K-Falls.

Wet snow and 39 here.  The sky got dark very suddenly here.  Real impressive stuff for this late!

Moisture made it to Bellingham, and saw these cool clouds at my soccer game.  We were on the edge of the rain, getting the occasional brief downpour.  Got .27” at my house while I was off playing.  The skies were quite dark off to the east where the rain band was, reminded me of a summer storm in the south.  
 

I think we are around 40 now and there is snow falling in parts of the county.

EL's around 350mb, in addition to overshooting tops, mean some particularly tall showers out there today, exceeding 30k ft in some areas. Hence why they looked like southern summer storms!

45/38 spread here today latest 45 or lower high I have personally recorded April 2008 got close and had 46 on 4/19 and 4/21

Down to 41 now with light rain and the radar filling in should be a fun night to track this system

Back in Autumn I extended my monthly Winter predictions out to April, because "it can technically snow in April..." Well here we are.

A good snowpack building Spring will raise my winter grade this year. From a B+ to an A probably.
