Looks like a pretty hefty band right over the heart of Portland right now. As of 2 hours ago PDX had officially recorded 1".

Not a flake here. The meso models did really good with this. The foothills of Sw Washington look like they got nailed.

Yeah, I checked a couple times last night just in case some moisture made it up north but as expected stayed in Lewis county. Epic event for Oregon though!
We’ve still got a couple more nights of low elevation snow potential…so still possible we see something before this cold spell is over.

I don't believe Silverton got any snow this morning, but I wanted to see when their latest measurable snowfall was. They didn't record any snow on 4/20/08, though I know they had at least a dusting and recorded a 43/32 day. However, they did record 1/2" on 4/10/83... I was wondering if maybe that was hail that got recorded as snow, but it looks like Silver Falls also recorded 2" of snow that day.

I had talked about it few months ago but something has changed with our climate that is allowing extreme events to happen more often.

Definitely been a wild few years. I think the painfully dull 1999-2005 period is also still etched in most of our minds so the contrast is even more noticeable.

This is the first time we have lost power with the kids, they are learning the hard way that so much relies on electricity.

We were so grateful to have the generator on Christmas Eve. 5.5" of sopping wet snow that day. Lines down everywhere. The snow today is actually not super wet up here, so for the time being... The power is on.

I was just slightly too far south to get the kind of sticking snow that most of the metro area got. The low kept moving north as it moved inland just enough for my spot to miss some of those backside bands. Had some slush on the grass, deck and roofs that is mostly gone now. Still a lot of fun though. Loving the pictures from Clark county though. Looks like mid-winter!

Just measured 4". We've now hit the 40" mark on the season. Some other neat benchmarks in the September 2011-present period, highest single day total for April, monthly snowfall record for April. Both previous marks were set in 2012. Not our latest accumulating snowfall though, we had 1" on 4/15/15.

Yep, and really abnormally so by historical standards.

Yep the 1983 event was legit, pretty cold trough. That's another year like 1960-61 where nothing happened at all and then it decided to snow in April.

1996-2003 was the worst snowless stretch on record for here. There were only 2 events that delivered sub-freezing highs during that timeframe and both were dry.
