Been sunny most of the day up here in Bellingham, currently 52 after a low of 30 again this morning.  The moisture just cannot seem to make it up this way.  ☹️

Definitely feel like we’ve  been in a pretty lucky spot with how we’ve done the last few days compared to a lot of people in western WA. Chehalis to Portland are the big winners.

Yeah, I can't really complain *too* much, I think the biggest "FOMO" aspect of this is the fact that is it the middle of friggin April, and how incredibly low the elevations are that people are seeing snow.  I would like to have 1 day where we get enough big 'ole fat flakes falling enough to turn everything white for a few hours then I would be good.

We haven't had anything where I am at, some parts of Whatcom County have seen some snow, but nowhere near the extent you guys have been seeing down south.

Currently 46 is the highest temp of the day at Corvallis and Eugene.

Even lowland and foothill northern CA is getting in on the cold daytime temps today. Chico and Redding are at a maximum of 52 for the day so far. Looks like very persistent rain in the Sierra foothills as well, which is a godsend for this parched area.

I must have moved to Siberia cause that is literally what it looks like here every Spring! Nothing even begins to leaf out until late May in a normal year. Could be waiting until June this year!

The new ECMWF weeklies keep the cool/troughy pattern going until at least the end of May. 😱

I’d prefer a 2008 (no eastern death ridge) but either one would be an impressive low frequency pattern shift vs recent years.

May/June 2008 and 2011 were VERY different here. Some beastly troughs at times in 2008, but SLE had major heatwaves in May 08' and June.

I've been meaning to mow my lawn for the first time this year, but it is hard to do when we have had snow for 5 straight days.  Will need to wait until it dries out.

I’d mow in the snow just for the experience. Would probably be buying grass seed afterwards though.

The 8-16 inches of snow in the Wenatchee area is the latest snowfall ever recorded there, with record keeping beginning in 1931.  The previous record was April 13. 1955.

Despite that, the roads were clear of snow, just wet, when I was there around 10:30 this morning.

Latest snow ever *and* it’s 8-16”?

That’s insanity.

Looks like EUG was able to pull off a sub-50 high, assuming they don't have a late afternoon heat spike.

Satellite loop is pretty interesting today.   The trough is right over us so the clouds and precip are just meandering.    The area from Seattle north to Bellingham and eastward looks like little mini volcanoes exploding all over the place as showers pop up and then fade.    You can also see a large convergence zone or deformation setting up shop now from the coast towards Mt. Rainier.
