It's late April. "A bit cooler than average" with NW flow is very pleasant, at least around here. Glad that we're taking advantage of ULL season.

Late spring ULL patterns don’t usually produce a lot of NW flow. Some sort of southerly component seems more common, depending on position

Ah thanks for the correction. Probably just getting things mixed up again but there is a lot I don't know. Either way we'll probably see some fun weather from time to time in the next few days.

.70 here this morning... rained pretty hard at times as the front hung up against the Cascades.    Some sun breaks and pleasant now.

No worries. ULLs can be kind of wonky because the flow pattern is dependent on the exact positioning of the center of circulation.

You might yet hit average rainfall for April if that system on the 30th pans out.

55F and cloudy in Springfield. Very nice stretch of weather. One of the best in years IMO. Great snow event in Dec and now a cool and wet spring for now. Hopefully the volcano can have some small effect if we have a triple-dip nina this go-around in 22-23.

GEM goes the GFS route in terms of that ULL spinning up a ridge w/ moist southerly flow and convective outbreaks. Would be warm but very interesting.

Looks like both models’ op runs are outliers relative to their respective ensemble means, though.

Elevation 580’ Location a few miles east of I-5 on the Snohomish Co side of the Snohomish/Skagit border. I love snow/cold AND sun/warmth!

Well... it appears we are going with a 2011 type spring.

Looking for the positive aspects for those who enjoy the warm season... there was no rain out here in the Snoqualmie Valley for a 16-day period centered around the 4th of July in 2011.   That is pretty darn nice and better than most years.    There was almost no rain at all from mid-July through mid-September in 2011.    We had about 30 days with rain in that same period in 2019.
