Redmond, OR tied a record low this morning: 17 set in 1955.

Looks like Baker City tied their record low of 17 from 2013.

McMinnville, OR hit 27, broke their record of 28 from 1924.

Interesting all 3 of the following winters featured major regional arctic airmasses... lol... 1955-56 is probably the most underrated winter in PNW history.

Looks a little more like a typical April day here.... much more so than some of the other days this week.  Partly sunny and calm with a temp near 50 and actually feels fairly pleasant out there.   It's been dry all day.

That Nov 1955 snap as I've said before was just impossible. A freak airmass. Because of it, KSEA's earliest subfreezing high is 21°F.

I might try and mow in a bit if we can manage to stay dry.

In terms of sheer anomalies, if there’s any previous anomalous temperature event we can compare to June 2021, it’s probably November 1955.

Someone in the local community facebook page posted recently about that winter.  She said they had to cancel the baseball season because the fields were covered with snow until late May.

I see cushions on deck furniture. I pulled mine back inside but I think it’s time to try again.

Mine are still in the attic, hopefully month number 5 will bring more deck type weather!

Had them out in March and early April then put them away.... and took them back out today so we can do a little happy hour on the deck.   Then back in they go since it's going to rain most of next week.

Mine are under cover but the crazy wind and rain was getting them anyway. But I think they’ll go back out today for the same reason.

Just cover them up? That’s what we do, never have to move furniture unless there’s a high wind event coming.

Yeah... emerging leaves can also look like the last gasp of fall.   😀

Those leaves look a little windburned.

Don't think so... not much wind here at all this week.    The cottonwoods leaves always look yellow for the first week or two and then turn green.    Of course they looked the same 10 days ago and everything just stopped progressing.

Just drove home to Tigard area... surprised by how much snow was in the Marion and Linn County Cascades.  Lots of snowcover in places I often don’t see it in midwinter.

Or didn’t see it much this winter. But yeah the mountains looked beautiful today.

Not too shabby!

I can't read that in my pic... will take your word for it.  NB is always high because it's a travel stop.
