Looks like a watch is on the way for east central Kansas along the dry line.

image.png.47815ee3a709d8b4c770aabc93afaea7.png

   Areas affected...eastern KS

   Concerning...Severe potential...Watch possible

   Valid 302051Z - 302245Z

   Probability of Watch Issuance...60 percent

SUMMARY...The severe threat across eastern Kansas is increasing this
afternoon. Area is being monitored for possible watch issuance in
   the next 1-2 hours.

DISCUSSION...Vertically developing cumulus are increasing along a
sharp dryline draped across east-central KS this afternoon. Ahead of
the boundary, surface dewpoints have increased into the mid/upper
60s as temperatures have warmed into the 80s beneath modest midlevel
lapse rates. This is resulting in MLCAPE values around 2000-2500
J/kg. Furthermore, the 20z RAOB from TOP shows little remaining
inhibition. While large-scale ascent will remain modest over the
region, weak low-level confluence ahead of the boundary and
continued heating should allow for a few thunderstorms in the next
couple of hours. Current VWP data from KICT and KTWX show modest,
but favorably curved low-level hodographs supporting rotation.
Furthermore, effective shear magnitudes greater than 50 kt will
support supercells. Given aforementioned weak forcing, any storms
that develop should remain discrete and have the potential for large
hail, damaging gusts and a couple of tornadoes. Convective trends
will be monitored and a watch may be needed by 22-23z

Hey Clinton, I've had activity form to the northwest of me. Other activity to the southwest of me also. Here is a pic of the high level cirrus from the storms to the northwest...with a lonesome dove monitoring the situation. lol

Well, as I expected, ORD did not achieve the mid 90's this holiday like our local WGN crew was hyping and we are not forecast to hit the mid 90's today.  ORD hit a high of 89F yesterday and will probably hit that mark or lower today.  I'm fine with that.  I hope you all had a relaxing long weekend as I did.

My threat for severe storms seems to be dwindling today according to some of the CAM's.  I'd like to see some storm action but any rain is welcomed.

The official H/L yesterday at Grand Rapids was 86/66. That low of 66 was the 2nd warmest minimum at Grand Rapids. At Muskegon the high of 87 was the 2nd warmest for the date and the low of 74 was the warmest minimum for the date. At Lansing the high of 87 was the 7th warmest and the low of 70 was the warmest. The overnight low at Grand Rapids and here at my house was 70. For today the record high at Grand Rapids is 95 set in 1934 the record low of 36 was set in 1966. Last year the H/L was 73/47.
My wife and me are taking a short road trip up to Ludington today.

Looks like severe weather could become a threat in my area, but as of now, it does not look too impressive. We will see.

Today's weather looks to be Sunny N Hot w temps near 90F, maybe a bit higher. No records are expected though. Nice cooldown coming, once this cf rolls on through w/ highs in the 60s on Thursday and lows in the 40s, for a couple of nites down the road. Mainly 70s for highs thereafter and lows in the 50s w/ loads of sunshine.

Round 1 produced big rainfall totals around KC but only .5 inches fell at my house.  More soggy weather ahead tonight and tomorrow.

The 2.84" of precipitation that KC has received thus far today, ranks as tied for the 11th most for any day in May on the 134-year record. We may not be done as another 1/4 to 1/2 inch of rain may be possible again this evening.

DCA hit 96°F today.

Low dews and residual cool waters are helping maintain the “spring feel” in the air, but that probably won’t last much longer.

I’d be satisfied if the swamp weather holds off until the summer solstice. June can still deliver nice weather with lows in the 60s if the pattern is right.

So this past weekend I went chasing and took my 10 year old daughter with me for the first time.

She’s hooked!

We ended up seeing softball sized hail on Sunday in the Sandhills of Nebraska on a tornado warned storm, and on Monday chased in South Dakota and Minnesota where we saw a funnel cloud west of Brookings and then in Minnesota nearly had a tornado form on top of us! We were on the front edge of the storms and noticed a strong area of rotation directly above us as we raced east. The storms were moving at 60-70 mph so it was hard to get ahead of them quickly. Soon I noticed a funnel coming down and a short time later had intense inflow suddenly form. Ahead of us we saw a large part of a tree get ripped off. Even crazier, a short time later my daughter said it felt like her ears had to pop, which is a sign of a tornado passing very close!

I’m working on a video yet, but here’s some pictures.

Nope. In fact she used to be afraid of even just thunder. But this spring she's started asking more questions and wondering every time it storms here if it's going to be a "big storm" because she wants to see one, so I figured I would take her along on this last trip!

Strong Storms moved across DFW. Rainfall totals varied quit abit across 3 counties.
We saw 1” in West Ft Worth while east toward Dallas saw 2.25”, falling for an hr, maybe less.  .
I haven’t seen rainfall like that in years. Sheets of rain you couldn’t see through that went on without pause.  Really impressive.  East Ft Worth was under a tornado watch.  Luckily no hail has been reported that I’ve heard or read yet.
That was the kind of storm we usually see in early May.
