The stoicism of last summer is such a distant memory now 😢

You are welcome to love cool and showery weather in the spring and the summer. I never want you to ever change. I respect your preferences, but not everyone agrees with you. Please respect mine, ok? Do we have a deal?

The future hasn't happened yet. We'll see. A cool la niña spring is pretty common. There's no guarantee it continues throughout the summer.

I should have stipulated the summer is indeed uncertain given recent trends.  I was pretty much thinking overall for the next year.  Usually when cool weather gets locked in with a Nina it takes a Nino to stop it.  I think this year will be our best shot at a cool summer for the next few years.

It's way behind schedule.  Normally at this time of year it's hopeless for me to keep up with the growth of our lawn.  This year...no problem so far.

62/47 today.

I thought last night would get colder.  The clouds reformed too quickly.  At any rate last month had 20 or 21 lows below 40 here.  Pretty high standard for April.  I expect there will be some more and maybe a frost or two this month as well.

Not sure if that pic is representative of your entire area... but the trees are all leafed out up on Rattlesnake Ridge well above us.   The west end of the ridge as viewed from North Bend is mostly deciduous trees which is the result of being clear cut in the 1980s.    Those deciduous trees probably go up to 2K in elevation and I noticed earlier this week that the entire canopy is now green up there.

I went to the state park and we are a bit ahead of where they are it seems. More direct sunlight here.

Based on my Facebook memories the vegetation is just about exactly where we were at in 2013 at this time.    We are ahead of 2008 and 2011.   Close to 2017 and 2018 as well.   And way behind 2015 and 2016 of course.

I finally checked my gauge from and I had .82 just from yesterday. It doesn't seem like much but for my semi-arid county that's a fair amount.

It's nice because I was expected .25-.5 per NWS a few days prior and ended up with only .08 that day.

Today is the 4th day since April 8th without precip in North Bend.   Pretty amazing run of wet days that will go for at least another week (to get to a month).   Its usually good to get this out of the way early in the warm season.   It never keeps up this pace.    Even in 2010... 30 days was as long as it could go but that was mid May through mid June.

Nice thing about this stetch... 3 of the 4 dry days have fallen on Sunday.

We have gotten a decent amount of sun here despite the troughy pattern and rain most days. This time of year, I actually prefer deep troughs with the showers and sunbreaks vs. marine layer days or warm front drizzle. But I would not complain about a stronger ridge for a few days at this point either.

Definitely... deep troughs are not bad.  Regardless when I see stretch of 30 days with rain almost every day then I know a pattern change is coming.

The more I look at it, the more I think the GFS is on dope. Again.

The way it handles the Aleutian TPV between hr108 and hr144 is reminiscent of what it was doing a month ago in the GOA. I’ll wager a hefty sum it doesn’t get absorbed west like that.
