This is stuff I never think about or even observe…. East slope gets the sun so the weathering effect is less then on the west slope in the shade. There is a massive difference between that area and the Seattle area. Those are mountains that block a good deal of rain and create an entirely different climate. It’s a very cloudy climate. So there are benefits here as well. I read somewhere a while back that we average about 200+ days of cloud a year. And a lot of drizzle that don’t amount to anything so it’s basically dry.
