Wow! That is a beautiful shot! The blue greens of the hail core are always so beautiful in photos (I've never seen a strong storm in person). Thanks for sharing!

Thanks and I'm happy to share! Just like anything, the blue/green hail core is even more brilliant in person!

It's also fun to hear the outflow winds move in so instantly with these big storms. From silence, to the distant but building sound of a freight train and then suddenly the full force of the outflow hits. It's all so surreal and beautiful when it doesn't cause any damage!

7.11" of rain on the month. Pushes my total since January to a whopping 50.84"!

Definitely slowed down from January/February where I was in double digits. April owns the crown as the driest month.

EDIT: Somehow my stats got ported to Granite Falls? Well at least Granite Falls isn't drowning, I thought my stats were a little lower than I expected. Fixed now. Only a...17" difference lmao

Interesting. We are at 38.35" since January 1st. January through March was below average, after a pretty wet October-December period. We had 10.51" in April, the wettest month since December, and now 8.28" this month so far.

64/55 day here. Mild and cloudy start with breezy NW winds later on, clouds breaking up and DPs dropping. A really nice day overall.

55 is also the current temp, so should be heading for a midnight low

Would be great to achieve some 11:59pm lows in spots. 58/46 here today, but down to 47.5 already. 0.06" in the bucket from some morning showers.

Yeah lows have been mild the last few mornings. Yesterday’s 57 was close to a record MAX/MIN at PDX, record was 58 from 2014. This morning’s record was 61 from 2006 (decent mid-month heatwave that year) but they won’t be anywhere close anyway since they are already down to their morning low of 57.

We are about average since January 1st, maybe slightly above now. For the water year we are above average due to a very wet December.

Reading some of the things people reply to him on Twitter or Facebook is funny. Some people like to insist that the drought in Eastern OR is a lie because it's wet in western OR and WA.

Looking forward to some cooler nights, but the vegetation is starting to really come alive with these mild nights. I have a feeling the mosquitoes are going to be terrible this year.

Creeks still going strong too. This is usually pretty dry country at this point in the spring, in the scablands between Catherine Creek and Coyote Wall.

Those pictures look amazing! The visible transition from a very wet Western Gorge to a much drier Eastern side is really cool.

Such beautiful country... I'm thinking of trying to attempt a camping trip with the new baby up towards Badger Creek/White River wildlife area, here in a few weeks. Should still be pretty green I would guess.

Yeah, that's at least as green as it was when I went late last March. Probably more so.

Do you normally have mosquitos?    They are barely noticeable here regardless of wetness.   I don't think we have much standing water up here.

The trees have definitely filled out more in the last few days... most look like they are at the summer stage now.

Same in my location. There are a few that haven't leafed out fully, but overall it's almost fully green now.

Yes, we have an unreal amount of mosquitoes up here in early summer. It was one of the unpleasant surprises of moving up here. They are only really bad around dusk and just after dusk, so that's the good thing, they aren't super prolific during the day, but as soon as dusk falls its like a cloud rises up out of the little canyon below our property, there is a year-round stream that flows through there and several neighbors have small ponds off the creek.

Do I have permission to go east of the Cascades on Memorial Day weekend?    We are looking at Lake Chelan.   But I know that you said central WA is a total sh*thole.   🤨

I have never said Lake Chelan was a poophole.

I diss the Columbia Basin... Tri-Cities is nowhere near Lake Chelan. You act like I'm over here crapping on Leavenworth.

Creeks still going strong too. This is usually pretty dry country at this point in the spring, in the scablands between Catherine Creek and Coyote Wall.

Gorgeous pics. If my and my wife are ever down there I'll have to send you a message for some good spots to go! (if we don't detour to Cougar, WA for some elk burgers)

Well that just sucks.

Fortunately I'm somewhat immune to the bites, they swell up a little for an hour or two and usually completely subside by the next morning. My wife on the other hand really reacts to them and has to exert all her will not to end up looking like a methhead from scratching them all. But I've often been sitting on the porch reading something or scrolling on my phone to look down to see 3-4 mosquitoes on me simultaneously.

Do I have permission to go east of the Cascades on Memorial Day weekend?    We are looking at Lake Chelan.   But I know that you said central WA is a total sh*thole.   🤨

Central WA is my favorite part of the state. Chelan, Leavenworth, the Liberty area (especially that hidden valley between Cle Elum and there), all the way up to the Methow Valley. Drop dead gorgeous any time of year, but especially early summer.

I am pretty much immune as well... and my wife also gets eaten alive and reacts badly.   Something in her blood attracts them.   It's the same for her entire family.    She says it's the biggest reason she will never live in MN again.

Permission denied. Stay here and take the wrath of God. ;)

I have never said Lake Chelan was a poophole.

I diss the Columbia Basin... Tri-Cities is nowhere near Lake Chelan. You act like I'm over here crapping on Leavenworth.

You act like we stay in a trailer park in the hood in Tri-Cities.    But the Columbia and Snake Rivers meet there.   And there are some really nice places to stay right on the water.   And tons of wineries in that area.   There are some very upscale places like Chelan.   You just judge it by getting gas in the hood in Pasco.

We usually stay at one of the hotels on this marina... sure seems nice when we are there.   Even if scary Pasco is quite close.

He should just go to Walla Walla. That's the fancypants place. Great Italian spot, and there used to be a cajun place called...Whoopemup Hollow that had amazing food.

I hate that. Especially when you swat them and end up with a splotch of blood on your skin, and wonder if it’s yours..lol.

One last shot as the storm approached earlier this evening. It was a pretty one with good structure. Always fun to see the inflow along with the hail circulation within the updrafts!

0.90" on the day and 3.24" on the month. Things are beginning to look lush again!

Nice! So much history out there, and great wine! I've thought about booking a weekend out there, but baby #2 on the way and a Sweden trip in August makes finances a bit tight.

Never been to Bend... we need to do that trip at some point.   Maybe in the winter.

A lot of valley locations may end up with small negative departures today.
