First one I have ever seen, but he didn't look full grown to me, maybe 90lbs... My thought was probably a young male looking for a territory, but I'm not an expert... Great job by the dogs though, they had him treed for over an hour, I finally went out to see what they were barking at, and when I saw them under the tree I figured it was either a cougar or a porcupine. I took them in and he chilled up there for about 20 minutes, finally jumped to the ground from about 15' up and disappeared. 5 Quote Snowfall Precip 2022-23: 95.0" 2022-23: 17.39" 2021-22: 52.6" 2021-22: 91.46" 2020-21: 12.0" 2020-21: 71.59" 2019-20: 23.5" 2019-20: 58.54" 2018-19: 63.5" 2018-19: 66.33" 2017-18: 30.3" 2017-18: 59.83" 2016-17: 49.2" 2016-17: 97.58" 2015-16: 11.75" 2015-16: 68.67" 2014-15: 3.5" 2013-14: 11.75" 2013-14: 62.30 2012-13: 16.75" 2012-13: 78.45 2011-12: 98.5" 2011-12: 92.67" It's always sunny at Winters Hill! Meatyorologist
Unexpectedly strong marine layer today, not that I even anticipated one to begin with. High temps across all guidance down 5-10°F relative to runs 24hrs ago. I’ve said it before, the lack of low level moisture played a big part in the absence of the marine layer over this last decade. Now that we’ve had a very wet Spring and we’re transitioning into the true warm season with moderating temps aloft, the layer has incepted itself with a vengeance. That and the colder waters offshore. Got down to 41°F at KSEA last night and now back up to the low 50s. He had a Pyrenees before, and has a Pyrenees mix now. The current dog is only about a year old but he is quite large. My friend said he went with this breed/mix to protect his family, flocks and herds. He mainly has to deal with coyotes, but every once in a while a cougar will find its way into his general area. 3 Quote Britton Rd Bellingham Weather Station: https://www.wunderground.com/dashboard/pws/KWABELLI103?cm_ven=localwx_pwsdash
Doinko
I just remembered this: https://fox12weather.wordpress.com/2020/01/16/did-you-expect-a-snowmageddon-this-week-what-went-wrong-hint-it-wasnt-the-forecast/. Farther north it was probably nice though.
Phil
Wow I’m not acclimated to warmth at all right now. An 88/73 afternoon would be tolerable by “dog day” standards, but I was pouring sweat today. 1 1 Quote Live Weather Cam: https://www.youtube.com/live/KxlIo8-KVpc?si=xKLCFYWbZieAfyh6 PWS Wunderground https://www.wunderground.com/dashboard/pws/KMDBETHE62 PWS CWOP/NOAA: https://www.weather.gov/wrh/timeseries?site=F3819&hours=

A friend of mine has a rather large family and has tried to be as self sufficient as possible with an assortment of farm animals (chickens, ducks, geese, goats, sheep, etc) on 5 acres out in the county. They will destroy coyotes. Now that I have two coyotes mostly stay away. When we had our old Pyrenees/Collie mix, she was a little smaller around 90lbs, but killed a couple of coyotes during her run. 2 Quote Snowfall Precip 2022-23: 95.0" 2022-23: 17.39" 2021-22: 52.6" 2021-22: 91.46" 2020-21: 12.0" 2020-21: 71.59" 2019-20: 23.5" 2019-20: 58.54" 2018-19: 63.5" 2018-19: 66.33" 2017-18: 30.3" 2017-18: 59.83" 2016-17: 49.2" 2016-17: 97.58" 2015-16: 11.75" 2015-16: 68.67" 2014-15: 3.5" 2013-14: 11.75" 2013-14: 62.30 2012-13: 16.75" 2012-13: 78.45 2011-12: 98.5" 2011-12: 92.67" It's always sunny at Winters Hill! Doinko
The low to mid level flow will generally be out of the north, but there may be just enough north-northeasterly flow to allow a storm or two to try and push into the east Portland/Vancouver metro between 4-8 pm Saturday. /Neuman - NWS Portland AFD I hope a storm somehow makes it to the west Portland metro area. That seems unlikely, but I can hope! The east metro gets all of the fun lol. 1
