I would say 1992-93 still holds the distinction of best winter of my lifetime. Down here I would probably rank 2016-17 just above 2008-09 for #2.

Yeah, 1992-93 was a really nice winter for most of the region and amazing for the Central WV. You guys really killed it in early to mid January while the gorge overpowered the PDX metro. We cleaned up a bit in December and had a few sloppy inches in late January.

And then the February 18-19 storm was amazing for the whole Eugene to Portland corridor, stopping just to the north of here around Woodland. Actually that might have been the last storm that dropped 6"+ for the entire EUG to VUO region. February 2014 kind of managed it as well but that was spaced out between a couple events.

That would be my wife.    I need to spend time on a weather forum discussing how long our road is.   👍

Usually when the valley can do well, I think the cold air is deep enough that my area does well also, so I don't think my area could've done that bad that year.

I think the western metro actually did a bit better in 1992-93 than Portland/Vancouver. More like the WV. The clipper storm on 1/8/93 dropped a few inches west of the West Hills while the outflow ate it up to the east.

Also, I don't know how but on 2/25/19 when the Eugene area got nailed, my area managed 2.5 inches of snow while the central/east PDX metro had 0-a dusting.

It was a once in a generation type event.

Nice!  We used to float the Yakima back in the day. We’d put in at a boat launch on the road between Cle Elum and US 97, and take out at a railroad bridge a few miles downstream. Total distance was about ten beers IIRC.

The big one here in early January was the 4th or 5th. Had 5-6” with it. Then we had a couple other 1-2”’events over then next couple weeks and a 3-4”’event mixed in too. Then 13” in February

At least the 18z is an absolute thunderfest. Cutoff lows create pretty incredible dynamics.

Checking in

68/52 with 3.39 in the bucket for the month Federal Way.  Looked nice according to the Nest cam!  I’m not missing the PNW and really don’t want to come home.  Sounds like my yard is out of control according to my caretaker of the house…..ugh!

Otherwise it’s been beautiful down here in the SW. it was just a bit nippy in this location earlier!

I wonder, how cold could temps have gotten had the February cold wave happened a month or two earlier? That was a nice event, the east winds were blowing a lot in my area. I had a few flurries of snow on the morning of the 24th, but not much. There were some interesting clouds the day before the cold came though.

68/51 today…0.01” of rain this morning. Broke a 4 day dry streak which was our longest streak since late March. Today was very nice though rained early in the morning. Last week has been much drier than earlier this month. Picked up 3.02” in the first half of the month but just 0.20” since. Euro shows us finishing the month around 3.75” if it verifies.

haha dogs will eat anything! kind of had it coming eating a funny smelling wrapper on the ground. honestly it cracks me up. he's already acting more 'normal', jumping on the couch and eating and drinking again.

I wasn't there for it at the time, but apparently earlier he couldn't figure out how to keep his head upright! little guy was zonked

My dog only eats four things: chicken treats from Costco, turkey, shredded cheese, and the kibble we smuggle in with the turkey and shredded cheese. Oh and some doggy anti depressants because why not. Oh and grass to puke and reset his stomach once a week. Interesting dog.
