Lol, kinda funny how the clouds stop pretty much exactly on the OR/CA border.
But there is kind of a geographical reason for it (crest of a significant mountain range running right along the border).

Atleast they’ve managed some precipitation out of the last couple months. Not nearly enough but it could be worse. Oregon is much better off after the last 2 months.

New euro run isn’t very chilly…but the wet theme continues. Obviously way too early to call but I think next month will also be above average rainfall. The last 2 junes have actually been fairly wet here…1.89” in 2020 and nearly a rainfall record last June with 2.38” in the first half of the month. Of course the faucet shut off quickly last year in the second half of the month.

Just in case anyone was wondering here are the (very small) Memorial Day Weekend highs for Seattle since the first official celebration of the holiday in 1971 (get out your magnifying glass!). Blue are highs below 60F while red are highs above 80F which are about 10 degrees below or above average (technically average is about 67F so the colors favor below average, but...).

Depending on what the airport hits today, this will probably end up being the 4th coldest holiday weekend since 1971 with only 1971, 1980, and 1976 colder. We need less than a 64F high today to end up with a colder average high over the 3 days than 2010.

Memorial Day weekend was better back in the 70s, 80s, and 90s.   😀

3 days above 80 in the last 25 years and 10 days above 80 in the 25 years before that.

Euro gives us 2.37" over the next 10 days. Would be an outstanding blessing. Looks wet in SW Oregon, the Blue Mountains. The one place I am still worried about wildfires this summer is Central Oregon. They haven't done as well the past couple of months.

Looks fairly sunny and warm the next 4 days.   What an incredible blessing from the Almighty Lord in Heaven for the vegetation which needs some sun and warmth to thrive.    God is great!

Looks fun but that to me looks like a resolution issue that the GFS is seemingly always struggling with these days.

Cold Season 2023/24:

Total snowfall: 26"

Highest daily snowfall: 5"

Deepest snow depth: 12"

Coldest daily high: -20ºF

Coldest daily low: -42ºF

Most models tend to roid up foothill sfc DP’s around here so I suspect it’s that.

Precipitation anomalies through July 11th on the EPS weeklies.

This doesn’t even account for the dry bias this model has displayed across NW North America in the long range.

Awful look for the south-central states.

Took a nice hike up Cook Hill in the central Gorge today. It is the peak directly east of Dog Mountain and much less popular than that hike. The weather was just about perfect with mostly cloudy skies, some sunbreaks, and a cool breeze. The wildflowers were looking great.
