I had that happen with a geology class. We were going to look for trilobites outside Goldfield NV, but there was already about 3in of snow with about 16 more to come.

Funny that you mentioned Goldfield NV. My grandfather owned most of the land there and I also visited a few times. My Dad’s side of the family still owns some of the gold rights there. A true western ghost town.

I'm kind of enjoying this weather just for how abnormal it is, but that's mostly because I find the statistics and records interesting. It's definitely made getting up into the mountains more difficult for me with unstable snow and unstable weather, but I've embraced the challenge.

For a numbers update, after the weekend SEA was tied for 8th most for days with a high of 55F or lower in April (6). That puts it above 2011 (5), but below 2010 (8). Unfortunately the airport bumped up to 57F today so we couldn't add another day, but maybe we'll snag another one on Thursday. Then it will just be a question of whether we we'll have some extra cold rainy days later in the month.

Plenty of us actually do.

But it has to be a pretty small percentage of people who want it to rain every day in a climate that averages 210 dry days per year.   ;)

Geez it’s rained a few days and the models are looking pretty average. But several are melting down because it’s not summer yet.

Dismissing the reality that it has rained on most days for the last 45 days in many places which is quite unusual and it likely will go for another 10-14 days at least.    And its been unusually cold as well.   Winter continues for most of spring.   Good news is that when it's this persistently wet in April and May it usually sets us up pretty good for summer.    I am actually more optimistic about summer than I was previously.

Haven't cried at all... maybe that would be therapeutic.  😀

Hopefully we get back to you crying about any day above 60 soon and how horrible it is when its not raining every day.

We are in the middle of a 3 day dry stretch right now, and Salem s average high is about 70 now, even up here it’s climbing towards the mid 60s so as long as we stay below 80, I’m good.

Gorgeous morning here too... sun beaming on a saturated and lush landscape.   Which is true any time the sun shines here in May and June in any year.

Gorgeous morning here as well! Blue bird skies, snow cover with green grass underneath it all.

Dropped down to 22F and the mountain snowpack is actually now above average!

That kind of cold probably delays your leaf out even more.     The trees are so confused... sun angle is very high but its still winter cold.

Yeah we were running about two weeks behind schedule before this cold wave so we're probably looking at nearly June before things really start leafing out this year. Plan is to get the garden going Memorial Day weekend.

I would be shocked if you aren't buried in snow at some point again in June.   Seems very likely this year.

Surprisingly... everything we planted is coming up now.   Probably won't grow very fast though until we get something resembling normal temps.

It does feel like that kind of year where significant June snow is likely or at least around that Memorial Day weekend timeframe.

Seeds and seedlings love cool wet weather and you haven't been seeing any below freezing temps so that doesn't come to much surprise to me! Are you growing any broccoli this year? I think I've given up on growing it here. They love cool/wet weather, grew like weeds in our Portland garden.

No broccoli this year.    I think we planted that one year but not really a fan of broccoli.  😀

I have seen Spring….ya just need to travel to it 😀!  Rowena Plateau trail (Columbia River Gorge) was not the place to find it though….chilly blustery winds.  In wind sheltered areas of the hike it was quite lovely with the flowers blooming though.
