It has aloft. The only reason it is raining over your place is because of cold core convection. Weak stuff that that, but there is a slightly cooler airmass overhead and it is very slowly cooling, allowing nighttime sfc parcels to become slighly bouyant, when mixed.

Low of 53 here this morning…up to 3.03” of rain this month. Last nights euro run in the 7–10 range would push us towards 5” this month if it verifies lol. Shows over an inch of rain in the next week. Gfs is much drier with less than 1/2” of rain over the next 10 days.

Troll.

There are days with rain that turn out to be decent and days with very little rain that are gloomy and dark.   But the days with rain statistic is still interesting.

I have gone back through the Snoqualmie Falls records going back to 1898 and its really hard to find an April/May period with rain almost every day... but that appears to be what is happening this year.     It is very rare to not have a 4-5 day break even in the wettest/coldest springs.    There has not been more than a 1 day break here since the start of April and none in sight.    That is definitely noteworthy.

Even though I said that I completely understand your perspective down there... you keep up these silly posts.

From a statistical standpoint... the persistence of the rain has been very unusual out here.    That is just a fact.    Some of the days with rain have been quite decent... but that does not change the statistical anomaly.    You inject stats when people talk about feelings but then inject feelings when people talk about stats.    😀

Saturday afternoon was quite nice.    And it was day with rain.    Not the point though... the days with rain stats are very impressive even for my area.   Hard to find a match.

This month might even end up being a bigger negative departure than April was…and even wetter than April too. We just need 0.95” of rain to pass the May 2014 rainfall total…and 0.60” to pass the total rainfall for April.

I've always thought that the April/May record rainfall records for the PNW were all pretty low hanging fruit.

Record May rainfall in Bozeman is an astonishing 9.54". We're up to 2.66" on the month as of yesterday so at this point we're not even looking at a top ten wettest. We do have measurable precip on 12 out of the first 16 days this month though.

Currently at the tire shop getting the winter tires off of the work van which I feel is still iffy since this particular van travels over the passes fairly regularly…It’s almost June for golly gosh sakes.

Elevation 580’ Location a few miles east of I-5 on the Snohomish Co side of the Snohomish/Skagit border. I love snow/cold AND sun/warmth!

A wasted prolonged winter pattern.
No passive aggression from me…The last two months have sucked, and I wish it was 75 and sunny right now. Saturday was awesome, lots of rain early that morning and then it warmed up and turned lovely. I’m fantastic with that. Yesterday was vomit worthy with 90% of the day being dark and gloomy…Those are the days I hate. Preferences!!!!

Yeah but this is also the wettest point of the year for much of the Intermountain West. Different dynamic for you guys at this juncture since you see more intense convection and juicier boundaries/deformation zones from the last cold systems trying to squeeze over the Rockies.

Goofy 12Z GFS is showing 70s and dry for this coming weekend.    I would bet $100 that won't happen... any takers?   I would gladly send the $100 via Venmo if I am wrong.   😃

Suns out this morning very nice. We’ve still managed some pretty nice weather over the last few weeks mixed in…just never lasting more than 24-48 hours at a time. Being close to the sound has helped us get more sunshine since we clear out quicker.

Still would have been nice to do a little swapparoo with the January’s pattern with the current pattern.

It’s hard to say how that pattern would’ve translated into wintertime though. Would it have been February 2019 in January or would it have been 500-1000’ snow levels with occasional slop.

12Z GFS is so reasonable... not totally dry but more spring-like which would be nice since we are approaching summer now.     Unfortunately I have absolutely zero faith in the GFS.   Literally zero.

It definitely hasn’t been the Central Valley lite stuff we have grown accustomed to the last ten years. But that was a pretty big aberration from our historic springs. This year has been on the cool and wet side, but pretty normal in the grand scheme of things, especially relative to a decade of torching.

Even though at this stage I would have arguably preferred a warm and sunny afternoon, I still had a very nice afternoon at Stanley Park yesterday. I wore rain gear, of course. Would have been a miserable afternoon without it.

It’s really rare for me to have a bad afternoon in the woods. Plus, even in a more normal spring, there usually are rainy spells in May and June. This is in fact the best time of year to experience the soundscape of raindrops falling on intact leaves (summer is usually dry so don’t hear that sound very often then.

May and June rain is usually much different than winter rain because its so lush.    I really enjoy it as well... but not every day.    I would prefer some variety.    Maybe rain on just 4 out of 7 days each week?     Still enough to keep it lush green.
