39°F here... 🥶

First 30s of the month, on the 20th of all dates. Not for a lack of cold airmasses, though lol, just lots of bad luck w/ cloudcover during previous troughing. KSEA plummeting on the 5min updates, around 43°F and dropping, other surrounding stations colder. Might pull off the first 30s of the month there if we're lucky.

You merely adopted the night. I was born in it, molded by it.

J/K I work graves though. Nothing more peaceful than the night, except in the job I'm at haha.

Going to be warming up a lot now that we are moving into a drier and sunnier pattern. The next week will put a pretty big dent in those cool monthly averages.

First one I have ever seen, but he didn't look full grown to me, maybe 90lbs... My thought was probably a young male looking for a territory, but I'm not an expert... Great job by the dogs though, they had him treed for over an hour, I finally went out to see what they were barking at, and when I saw them under the tree I figured it was either a cougar or a porcupine. I took them in and he chilled up there for about 20 minutes, finally jumped to the ground from about 15' up and disappeared.

Very cool. I've still yet to see one in the wild, even though they are apparently all over the place here as you get into the foothills.

Even a 90 lb lion could destroy almost any dog, good thing he was more scared of them.

Fixed.

They are pretty formidable beasts... The one on the left is 1/2 Anatolian Shepherd/Great Pyrenees and weighs about 140lbs, the one sitting up is a Great Pyrenees and is about 120lbs.

May be an image of dog and outdoors

You merely adopted the night. I was born in it, molded by it.

J/K I work graves though. Nothing more peaceful than the night, except in the job I'm at haha.

I love nights, I've only ever worked night shift.

Unexpectedly strong marine layer today, not that I even anticipated one to begin with. High temps across all guidance down 5-10°F relative to runs 24hrs ago.

I’ve said it before, the lack of low level moisture played a big part in the absence of the marine layer over this last decade. Now that we’ve had a very wet Spring and we’re transitioning into the true warm season with moderating temps aloft, the layer has incepted itself with a vengeance. That and the colder waters offshore.

Got down to 41°F at KSEA last night and now back up to the low 50s. We’ll see how long this marine layer lasts…

ECMWF showed low cloud cover for a good part of today for many runs... looks like leftover moisture from the recent system.    But the ECMWF does not show much in the way of solid low clouds for the next few days.    You might be jumping the gun to assume this is just the way it will be now.

I might be relying too much on a certain someone's ice age prophecy... ;)

53°F and starting to clear now.

Yes great job dogs!! Last spring my driveway alarm started going off at 2am so I got up and looks out the kitchen window and saw a cougar walking down my driveway, then another, then another, and one more!! All in a row! So I did some research and apparently the cubs will stay with mom for up to two years! They all looked fully grown. I so so SO kicked myself for not grabbing my phone as I went out to the kitchen so I could have grabbed pics or video. Figured it was just deer grazing setting off the alarm but usually always get up and check just to make sure it’s nothing human related. It was the most awesome thing I have seen but also I do think twice now when walking through my woods and I always have the dogs out in the backyard when the kids are out playing.
