One of the last nice days of the spring here and I’m stuck in an office building under florescent lighting. 🤮

Sure thing. But reading you and Tim talk about it one would think we were talking about 1993 or 1983.

12Z GFS sticking with the nice weekend theme... and holds off the rain until next Thursday.     Also backs off again on the deep troughing later next week compared to its 00Z run.

Looks better than 06z to me. Especially out here.

And here too.    Like I said... we have had to water the yard and garden every summer here except 2019.   Even in 2008 and 2011.

There was 19 days with rain at Snoqualmie Falls station in July and August of 1993.

And 25 days in those months in 2019.

1993 was less persistently rainy... also significantly cooler.

That part was anecdotal but it was pretty interesting.

I also posted stats for my area.   There was more days with rain in July and August in 2019 than in 1993.   That is just a fact.   And I actually didn't really mind 2019... there was plenty of nice days between the rainy days.

12Z GFS also sticks with the troughy holiday weekend idea... which seems like a forgone conclusion if we actually get significant break in the rain over the next week.

2019 was fairly sunny and most of the rainy days were convective/stormy. Barely saw any of that in 2020 and 2021.

As a result we also avoided a bad fire season both here and in CA. Yeah central Oregon and inland CA are always bone dry in the summer, but they’re not always single digit humidity with downsloping winds every single day either. Went to Mt Shasta in late August and they were even watering the grass and skies were completely clear.

Yeah... I think 2019 was basically a smoke free summer and fall.

2019 was one of the most persistently rainy summers ever in my area.    And yes.... I realize it was also warmer than normal.   But in terms of days with rain... it was top tier.    And that was his point.    There are not many summers which get progressively wetter in JJA... but that actually happened in many places in 2019.   It happened for TacomaWaWx that summer and he has mentioned that several times.

It rained on almost half the days in July and August in 2019 out here at the Snoqualmie Falls station.    That is pretty rare even during wet summers.

I don’t remember summer 2019 being distinctly rainy. All I remember was it being fairly warm and the grass staying green into late July. There must have been a harsh east-west gradient.

Probably.   It was unusually rainy in Tacoma and out here... so probably lots of SW flow and shadowing in Seattle.

Chelan?    I have heard nice things.    But Andrew says all of central WA is a dump and one should cross the Cascades for sunnier weather so my expectations are low.    👍

In terms of consistent wetness I have never seen a May this damp, there are no true analogs. It should also come as no surprise that KSEA is running colder than May 2011 through the 17th… And we’re about to gain even more ground as troughing is ensuing on the exact dates ridging was popping up in 2011.

Everything is damp and alive and wildfires aren’t even close to the forefront of my mind. It’s a nice change of pace.

I remember how different the z-circulations looked going into that summer. Was clearly going to be lackluster 4CH that year.

Not so lucky this year. :( The PNW will (probably) avoid it this summer, but the intermountain West and Southwest are probably going to suffer again.

was wondering if I need to turn the AC on for the cats while on Vaca (5/27-6/5) looks like 70s are nowhere in sight.  gunna leave the Nest in cool/heat mode so I can go either way if need be via the phone app.  Probably going to leave irrigation off until we return

Would fit the timing of the CCKW passage perfectly. Early/middle part of next week increasingly matches the EOF for p7/8 MJO.

IDK if PDX can stay below 76 the rest of the month, but they should be able to stay below 80. My God, what if we have to wait until July for TWL to start posting jersey pics?! I have a feeling we aren't going to make it to linebacker #'s this year, maybe just running backs.

Once again... As you continue to lie more than President Trump, I have never made a negative comment about Lake Chelan or the East Slopes of the Cascades. The Columbia Basin, and I would say those same things about the Columbia Basin of Oregon. But that doesn't mean I despise the many nice places in Central Oregon, like Bend, Sisters, or LaPine.

Was I? Or was I posting facts, like actual statistics from Sea Tac? I understand it has been a long month and a half...

You don't even know you are doing it.   I just posted SEA stats earlier today and you promptly put words in my mouth and made up comments I never said.   You do it all the time.   😀

You okay bro?
