Pretty big bust on heat advisory in C.IA today. Not much over 100F HI all day at KDSM........  Currently 92 over 72--- really not worthy of an advisory --- like issuing a wind chill advisory for wind chills around -15F---

I noticed that first cell became severe warned as it crossed the WV border into Huntington.

So far there has not been any warnings issued for this county, but I guess you could consider that a vicinity severe?

Constant flashing around here. A lot of it is faint, but looks like multiple sections of this complex are lighting up the sky.

What a lightning show! I did get some video and will mess around with some of it later.

The initial passage of the MCS didn't really have a well defined shelf but there was indeed a whale's mouth sky overhead as soon as the wind started kicking up. Only WV/OH had severe reports so the bulk of it missed me. Was strong enough to at least break a few small branches on the street.

Hope my power comes back on soon…the crazy lightning must have struck a line…

I happen to visiting inlaws in the northern suburbs, just north of the lake/cook county line. Had sirens going, even though I don't think we were technically in the tornado warning areas. No real damage on the north side of the storm except for a close lightning strike took out cable tv/internet.

Had a nice secondary storm come through (not part of the MCS) and that one had nearly as much lightning in it.

It is still around 70 outside (I'd say it feels 75 ish between raining), not used to it still being this warm after storms passing through.

Just a taste of the dog days.

July 2020 never dropped below 71°F here.

What a way to start of the work week  yesterday.  You guys heard me yearning for a solid storm and boy did nature surely deliver!  This super cell just blossomed out of nowhere.  It looked like we would miss out on the storms as MKE got hammered with 1-2" diameter hail but that storm cell actually helped fire up our storm cell as it produced a lake-enduced CF to straddle the extremely Humid and warm airmass.  DP's were in the low 80's south of the front combined with a bursting CAP, the atmosphere fired up and the storm ignited straight up reaching 60,000 ft+ into the atmosphere.  Amazingly, while this Super Cell was both Severe and Tornado warned, I did not see any damage.  It was literally the best outcome I could ask for as a wx enthusiast.

There were many reports of rotation within the southern periphery of the storm.  Lot's of storm damage from wind and/or likely a microburst along with hail.  I saw torrential rain, .25" hail and prob the loudest and wildest CG's I've seen.  At times, each flash of lighting would produce a power surge inside my house.  It was actually pretty scary bc I could hear the electricity go through the wires/boxes.  My power went out for about 5-10 min...but thankfully...it came back on and the storm exited.

Some cool vids/pics of the super cell...

This is a sight for sore eyes across the Valley of the Sun...the Monsoon has made its appearance early this year as there were showers already across the southern part of the state yesterday and day before.  Like clockwork, nature is apparently going to deliver the goods on Father's Day weekend as the Monsoon officially beings on the 15h and lasts thru Sept.

Yesterdays official H/L at Grand Rapids was 85/60. There was a reported 0.17” of rain fall and 60% of possible sunshine. Here at my house I recorded 0.25” of rain fall. There was thundershower late last night. Most of the storm reports were to the south of here and there were some locations with over one inch of rain fall. The overnight low in MBY was 67 and that is the current temperature with cloudy skies. For today the average H/L is 79/58 the record high of 96 was recorded in 1984 in more recent times it was 94 in 1987. The record low is 38 set in 1978. Last year it was 80/61. It still looks like we are on tap for a brief 2 days mini “heatwave” before we have a pleasant weekend.
