Im pulling my son out of daycare early and taking him and the dog over to the east side to see if we can’t score some boomers or flash flooding (safely of course)

If my Covid symptoms would relax a bit I’d definitely head for the hills for this!
Regardless of the virus it sure has been nice to sit on my patio early morning enjoying coffee and the birds singing.  Been quiet pleasant indeed.

My COVID symptoms are the only reason I’m able to do this…sick enough for no work…not sick enough to drive 4 hours and deal with a toddler/dog combo on my own for two days

It does seem like everyone has COVID again. Our family is dealing with a cold AND we were recently exposed to COVID, but according to these home tests it is NOT COVID. Hope everyone is well.

Mostly clear with a low of 52 here.

GFS goes pretty crazy with the ridging next week the last few runs. Shoes close to our first 90 at face value. GEFS, Euro and EPS all look more muted though.

I wouldn't even mind if it was a short heat spike. Would knock Tim off his "July-January are going to torch" pedestal.

Looks like some major rainfall coming for the Blue and Wallowa Mountains in NE Oregon. Also for the mountainous areas of SE Washington. Incredible news for delaying the start of fire season.

I have literally never said any period is going to torch this year.    And I would bet serious money against any torching.      All I have said it that July-Sept will probably end up a little drier than average.    Maybe like 2011 or 2012.   And probably still a little cooler than normal... or maybe average at best.

I can't wait to get enough vacation time built back up to be able to take off and do stuff like this.  I am finally in a job that I think would be cool with me saying "hey I'm gonna take a couple of days off to storm chase."  I should have enough buffer built up by this fall to try to catch a fall storm from the deck of one of the ferries out of Anacortes.

For today, I am stuck working.  I don't think we will see anything in my immediate area, but maybe mother nature will offer up a nice surprise to help me celebrate my 50th lap around the sun.

That sucks that both you and @Jginmartini are dealing with Covid, but good to hear your symptoms aren't too bad.  My family was majorly exposed to it in Montana for my son's graduation, but we somehow dodged a bullet.  Me, my son, and my wife did get a bit of a cold, but we tested negative on 2 home tests and a PCR test.  It's funny (not funny), with all of the focus on Covid, you kinda forget that the common cold does in fact still exist.

The  only time I got sicker than the flu was when I got mono in middle school.  The flu is brutal.  Of course the screaming 180's (stomach flu) is pretty bad, but I've only ever had it for about 8-12 hours then I'm good once I get re hydrated.

Yeah I think people think the flu is no big deal with COVID being the top dog now, but it’s awful! When I had it a few years ago I was hardcore down for a week and not 100% for about 3 weeks.

It was much much worse than COVID, as a youngish healthy person I would take COVID any day... Obviously a much different story for older or immunocompromised folx.

I’ve personally since the start of covid gotten sick 4 times…2 of them being covid. The regular cold kicked my a** way more than covid on both occasions. It still is a big deal like I wouldn’t go over to my moms or grandparents house if I knew I had covid because what might not be a big deal for me could be serious for them.

It was much worse than COVID was for you, but for some, COVID is something very serious (fatal, even). (COVID was also no big deal for me; it was not even as bad as the typical garden-variety cold. The worst thing was having to quarantine for a week.)

The one good thing about COVID is that it does really seem less severe if one has had prior exposure to COVID proteins (via vaccination and/or prior infection). Which is a good thing, because going forward, we are all going to have to live with COVID being around, like it or not.

I was vaccinated before I got COVID. My wife refused the jab (Yes, she is one of those. lol), but had no symptoms. The only reason she was tested was she was in labor with our son. She had no known prior infection, but was working in a nursing home for 2 years being exposed pretty much daily. Her work granted her an exception to the vaccine mandate, but transferred her from the nursing home to an affiliated hospital, where they had her working on the COVID unit at 9 months pregnant during the Omicron wave...

I was both vaxxed and boosted by the time I got it. Which does really help tilt the odds in favour of it being mild, but COVID always had its asymptomatic carriers. It’s one of the reasons why it was so hard to control: there were people going around infecting others and not even aware of it. (When I heard it both had asymptomatic carriers and had been spreading for months, I knew it was Game Over and it was already a global pandemic. This was a good two weeks before the public health community finally admitted it.)

Edit: actually a little over two weeks.

I know of a person who was pregnant, got vaccinated and lost the baby.

I know two people who got vaccinated and then got pregnant. Neither pregnancy was planned.😬
