If it’s going to rain this much we may as well set records lol. Almost everyone I talk to IRL hates this pattern so it’s nice to be on a forum with those that can appreciate it. I would prefer some drier periods mixed in but it is what it is.

Too reasonable. Ban him

I’d jump on board but unfortunately my weather.com app only goes out to day 29. Might have to wait until tomorrow :(

The maritime polar 4th of July used to be more common. 1982, 1986, and 2000 all come to mind. It wouldn't shock me if it happened this year.

If 18z verified they better lift the fireworks ban for the Fourth of July!!!

They're already illegal here, but they are legal in a few select cities in Spokane county. They are also legal in Kootenai county. I didn't light anything off last year. It was too hot and dry. This year should be safer.

A bit of an elevated convection threat again tonight as cooling aloft occurs alongside an injection of moist air in the midlevels. Instability is meager but I've seen one or two strike wonders out of these setups.

Given skinny CAPE profile, even modest errors in moisture between 700-900mb would cause a substantial increase or decrease in instability.

How is it looking like for the Portland area? I think the NWS mentioned that some models were showing a 25% chance of thunderstorms tonight or something.

July 4th is the one day I really do want it to be nice. Every other day could be an icebox and that'd be swell but July 4th absolutely blows when you're outside in the rain for hours.

In 2010 it was real bad. Heavy drizzle and 50s the entire time. KSEA topped at 65°F but the airport evaded the PSCZ 'fun' which plagued the Gasworks show and the rest of the metro core. Came down with a nasty stomach bug while waiting to boot. By the time the fireworks started they were shrouded in mist and each boom sent pain and nausea through my body. Obviously a super awful, extreme example but the message stays.

First 10 days of July 2010 were ridiculously cold in Southern California too, breaking or tying some all-time record low maximums for the month of July in a few coastal locations.

For those keeping track, the trees/shrubs are finally leafing out here!

Very humid and damp day here today right along with the rest of the Northwest. Currently 49F and raining.

It runs! If it’s crappy in Eastern Wa next weekend we might have to just keep driving until we find a lake with sun and warmth.

It can be a drag. It used to be more common. I think I'll look at the records. A stomach bug makes it even worse.

0.48” of rain on the day, but overall not a bad evening. Light rain and 55, getting a few outdoor chores done and it feels quite pleasant.

The 10 coldest 4th of Julys in my lifetime.

I don't have a top-10 coolest July 4's for KLMT but I have only seen 1 cooler than 80 (2020 was 79) from 2011-2021. So a dependably warm holiday if you compare to any west side cities that probably average that day around 75.

2010 was 82 at KLMT while it was only 68 in Hillsboro (my last year there).

I had a 61 in July 2016 but that happened around a week after 7/4. At their elevation I imagine upper 50's are possible at KLMT, I just would like to know when they happened.

00z GFS also shows what is basically a November-like pineapple in June. Still waiting to see if the Euro is on board.

It shows around 2 inches of rain with that next weekend at Portland, pretty crazy.

Something like that would also rain a little at least at the California/Oregon border, those maps love to shadow that spot. Seen a fair share of June rain in Klamath, just not so much in July or August without thunder.
