June 2022 - Summer Begins

Today was pleasant. Went up to Moscow on the palouse for the market and some river fun at Hell's Gate SP in Lewiston. Got back home around 4 where we topped out about 78 or 79 at my location. Down to roughly 60 now. Tomorrow my son and I will sleep in my office where we run our portable AC on very warm days like the next two.

Still a very warm 67F outside and 75F inside.  Yuck!  Nice sunset though.

I should add...it was kind of wierd to have our friends in CB have a higher temperature than us (during summer of course). They were supposedly in the mid 80s or close to 90 depending on the station location.

We have something like that which we bought either from Amazon or Costco. We now have three. One in the 2nd floor office (which blows air to the son's room which is more like a loft plus door to office and door to downstairs, one in our main living space, and my wife bought an upgrade for her room which is more a traditional window ac. We usually buy our summer ac stuff in early spring when it's 40 outside and our winter gear in August when the temp drops from 95 to a cooler 85.

Just installed the 10k btu model upstairs to compliment the heatpump ac unit downstairs two weeks ago.

It’ll be interesting to see how much of a sea breeze we can maintain today. Offshore winds are weaker. If there’s less wind than yesterday it’s gonna suck.

Am supposed to hike 22 lake tomorrow up north but my friend wants to leave at 11am and start the hike around one. I said we gotta leave earlier or maybe go out near port Townsend instead hiking 1200’ when it’s in the 90s does not sound great to me.

12Z GFS drops less energy deep into the western trough late in the week... in favor of a stronger ULL in the GOA.  This would mean less troughing swinging through the PNW over the weekend if its correct.

Saturday is warmer and Sunday is much warmer on the 12Z run compared to the 00Z run.     Still looks iffy on the 4th... but not terrible.     Generally dry and in the upper 60s on this run.   And then it starts warming up again.    Looks more like a weak glancing blow in a generally warm pattern... but its the GFS so who knows if its right.
