12z isn't a bad run at all.

Yeah... lots of 70s and 80s.   No 90s after tomorrow.   And troughing centered to the west and north is less favorable for marine layer days.   It looks quite pleasant for the next 10 days.   Of course anything after day 8 or 9 is a complete crapshoot anyways.

Up to 87 now! Keep wondering if my sensor is overexposed, but the warmest temp we have had before Friday was 76, so it's probably not a sensor issue...

Seems to be way more mixing than usual in the foothills with this one, especially for this time of year.

Wow. 78 here. Still a northerly breeze but nothing like yesterday.

Heatwaves are actually enjoyable when it’s just a quick three day spike and then back to comfortable weather.

That’s the big thing for me too. The breaks are key.

That variability has been missing from recent summers here. Used to have big temp swings even in Jul/Aug, nowadays it’s just the same weather for months on end.

Not necessarily super hot, either, just 70+ lows every night and heat index in the 90s/100s every day. Slowly wears on me with time.

That’s why I have multiple sensors set up in different locations and swap them out regularly.

Also adds the benefit of a reference point if they need to be calibrated/changed. If one of them starts drifting it’s pretty clear.

Other stations in the foothills have similar temps as well, a lot of them already seem to be in the 90s!

Topped out at 84 yesterday, and finally cooled off to 56 overnight.  Back up to 81 today, which is +4 compared to this time yesterday.

This "little" girl joined our family Friday night, I went out this morning and picked up a kiddie pool for her to play in this afternoon.  Looking forward to when she has all her vaccines and we can her down to some of the waterfront parks to play.

80 degrees here at noon. I’ll be ready for the marine push tomorrow. I wouldn’t be surprised if today and tomorrow end up being the hottest days of the year.

Tillamook up to 91 already. That's +5 from yesterday!

Tillamook somehow managed to be one of the warmest places in the PNW yesterday, how hot can they get today? They hit 100 with the heatwave last year

Forecasted high is 95 today. It would be crazy if they somehow end up hotter than PDX again.

I’m betting on another hot spell in mid-July before this warm/ridgy pattern finally dies.

Though it’s not *as* certain, given the substantial differences in how guidance handles the tropical forcing(s) around the transition time.

I’ll also bet you dollars to donuts there will be another hot/ridgy pattern at the tail end of summer, in late August and/or September.

In between those two periods it looks blissful, though!

English Golden Retriever.  Pyrenees are amazing dogs, but I don't think they would be happy or thrive in our living situation.  One of my best friends had a Pyrenees (died of old age), and now has a Pyrenees mix.  Much like you, he lives on several acres and has an assortment of farm critters (including chickens, ducks and geese) that needs protection.

I was thinking some places might do fireworks on Sunday because the 4th is a work night.   But they are doing it on Saturday here.

12z ECMWF and Control Run appear to be substantial outliers from the EPS mean. Don’t see that too often. More typical of the GFS. 😂

PDX up to 88 as of Noon. I think they'll just miss triple digits. I'll go with 99 for them today.

A weather station in Bethany shows that we already are at 94! We hit 96 yesterday according to it so I think 100 is definitely reasonable here, but the station could be overexposed

Looks like K-Falls had their first 90+ day yesterday. I'll track how many days hit 90 this year for sure.

Bet they won't break 30. Some summers struggle to break 20 there, last year was a freak to have more than 50.
