IIRC y’all kicked our arse during the last El Niño in 2018/19.

And then there’s 1968/69. Haha

Approaching 100F here in Budapest, most days have been over 90F. There was one cool "marine push" kind of evening but it bounced back rapidly. More of a climate difference than I expected in Central Europe.

1656453286289.jpg

Budapest is known as the spa capital of the world, that must be one of them. On Weather Spark it says... "In Budapest, the summers are warm, the winters are very cold and snowy, and it is partly cloudy year round. Over the course of the year, the temperature typically varies from 26°F to 81°F and is rarely below 12°F or above 91°F."

It looks like a nice area to live in. They must be experiencing a heatwave right now. It says on there the most far-away place with a similar temperature profile is Kingwood, West Virginia.

We have a book about a bear who loves the snow and how she loves to build a snowman.

My wife made me a new snow board for measurements as a present since my old one warped in the late snow we had in April which was wetter and kept melting / made the board useless for future season.

Today's my bday and it was nice to have temps in the 70's instead of driving to Lewiston and praying my ice cream cake didn't melt on the 40 min drive home in official 115 record heat last year. Cake survived again :p. Not sharing though.

Happy birthday!

Man he really wants El Niño.

Decent video. I don’t see the signal for any bonafide WPAC MJO/WWB to trigger a downwelling kelvin wave, though. Quite the opposite. But we’re about to find out.

00z has a lot of rain from Everett North Sunday night/Monday but nothing South of Seattle and rebounds temps into the low 70's Monday afternoon. Wouldn't be a bad 4th for Seattle verbatim but cold drizzle isn't far away. Bellingham doesn't get out of the 50's that day.

Geez the Euro is really wet for Sunday. Playing in an old timers 4th of July baseball game on Bainbridge that day so hoping this is wrong.

Also shows a second round of heavy rain Monday from Seattle north. Pretty awful.

Ummm...wut. Going to really have to figure out a good way to drain the garden if this comes to pass. UKMET is still relatively dry and GFS is still manageable with only an inch. Both Euro and GEM (below) are closer to 3".

It's really hard to get a big ice storm on the west side so it must have been one heck of a cold airmass for that to occur. I'm still amazed that winter was a moderate el nino but it did have one of the strongest SSW events in history.

The ice totals in February 2021 were really crazy, I had around 1/2" of ice, but that's because I kept constantly switching from snow to sleet to ZR, and ended up with around 4.5" of snow and some sleet as well. Places around Oregon City had 1.5-2" of ice in some places!
