Bend is about 3300’, it is a fairly sizable city of nearly 100K people. Baker City has about 10,000 people and is about 3300’ as well. Burns is 4100’, K Falls is pretty about 20K people and 4000’. Lake view is the highest town in Oregon at 4800’.

A lot of those cities have some pretty serious elevation. They're like Western Montana. I know Butte is around 6000 feet.

Downtown Bend is at about 3700’, highest parts of Bend excluding Pilot Butte get to about 4k.

Bend being higher than Sisters is something that feels like it isn’t true, but is.

Most cities don't have a uniform elevation. KGEG is about 2400 feet. Downtown Spokane is around 1800 feet. I live in Spokane Valley, which is around 2000 feet. Five Mile Prairie, which is north of my location, is close to 2400 feet.

Yeah plenty of mountains within the Spokane metro area. Portland city limits even peak at about 1200’ in the West Hills.

Lol Jim might get his June/July 1862 analog wish. At least I think that was the year he brought up where there was absolutely insane rainfall in both months.

63/54 day here, mostly cloudy with rain at times. Have only picked up about .15” so far, but there are some pretty heavy echoes moving up from the south. Looking like a wet evening for the starlight parade.

Some great model trends today too.

Doesn’t really get too much better than it has been the last 2 months for cool/wet fans.

I’m just glad the city isn’t starting to turn brown by May 15th for once. May be lush and fire-free into July at this rate.

Kind of like the ten years before that for warm and dry fans ;)

I would say barefoot is better.    Wet socks are the worst!

It definitely was in January 2017, some places in the West Hills saw 18+ inches I think.

We say 17.5 inches that event (in my front yard)-- definitely the it spot for snow in the Portland area. Sucks though for accessibility when it does get snow or icy, certainly a double-edged sword.

Barefoot is even better in the snow. For short distances and as long is it's nice, cold dry snow, that is. Wet slushy snow is too cold (high water content = high heat capacity).

That much snow in such a short amount of time is crazy. Even in my area which is near the hills but not on them had 12.5 inches with that. I hope I can see that much snow at once at some point in the near future here.

I was curious, what areas in the lowlands of the Puget Sound/Willamette Valley do people think are the best/worst for snow accumulations or rainfall? Excepting the foothills and higher elevations. I think the microclimates around the area are pretty interesting.

North Seattle (approx. Northgate) to about Stanwood. PSCZ.

Whatcom County, due to its easier access to Fraser outflow (though sometimes that works to Whatcom’s disadvantage because if the outflow is too strong it keeps the moisture away).

I wouldn't be surprised this year if we see the coldest 4th of July since 2000. I see 60 degrees and drizzle in my future. This year seems like the year.

I’d jump on board but unfortunately my weather.com app only goes out to day 29. Might have to wait until tomorrow :(

That makes sense. I'd say in the Portland area the worst areas would maybe be some places in the Tualatin Valley like Beaverton?

Milwaukie and West Linn. For some reason, that area can get cold rain while everyone else in the metro area gets wet snow.

Warm tongue. West valley locations like Forest Grove, McMinnville, Corvallis and Monroe further south always do best overall. I feel like overall Clark county usually does better than places south of the river.

I think Clark County seems to do well when it comes to snow events a lot here, not sure though

Yeah I've seen Forest Grove do better than most of the metro area a lot of the time. My area seems kind of hit or miss. Surprisingly this winter was actually the snowiest in my location since 2016/17 with around 6 inches this year.

If it’s going to rain this much we may as well set records lol. Almost everyone I talk to IRL hates this pattern so it’s nice to be on a forum with those that can appreciate it. I would prefer some drier periods mixed in but it is what it is.
