I went there last August and saw a nice thunderstorm with a good amount of lightning!

Lucky! I have a faint memory of a good thunderstorm over there when I was very young.

If you’re in the Coeur d’ Alene area and you’re planning on taking a swim, I’d recommend Tubb’s hill. It’s an awesome area for jumping off rocks and it’s my dad’s old stomping grounds.

Feels like an October evening, with a steady right rain amidst temperatures in the mid 50s, alongside wispy tufts of nimbostratus racing NE caught in the lee flow of the Olympics. Classic wet season storm dynamics.

Up to 0.65".

Drove down to the Santiam Canyon this evening. Interesting how quickly the maples recover from the wildfire. So many new shoots and recovering trees.

Would be the most prolific derecho pattern here in decades if the GFS verified. I’ll chug a gallon of coffee kracken and post the video here if it verifies. 😂

Not gonna take the bait, though.. like 90% of the time I end up under the ridge instead, without a cloud in the sky.

SEA is at 1.07 inches on the day now... which is 75% of normal rainfall for the entire month in one day.

Good enough to knock out 6-15-2017 for the 7th wettest June day on record.

@TigerWoodsLibido Tomorrow will be a nearly all-day soaker while temps crash to around 50 during the afternoon. With cold pooling in the valley, there may be some of what the NWS biz likes to call "isentropic lift", where warm air rises along a plane of constant temperature, meaning Coast Range shadowing may be less of an issue tomorrow. Happens all the time in Vancouver BC.

Very interesting stat at KSEA today. With the temps crashing to 53°F around 2:30pm and recovering to a current 57°F, today recorded an afternoon low... Less than two weeks removed from the solstice! That is incredibly difficult to do this time of year!

I don't want to start anything, but thought this was an interesting fact. Apparently this April/May has had the second most days with measurable rain on record, after 2010. I haven't minded it much, but I understand some people not liking it and wanting sunnier weather. March was milder and drier than average though.

Already 1/4+ inch of rain at PDX. I think most of the rain will stay to our north and south, but still should have some good totals by the end of this AR.

@Phil You'll love this... Evaporative cooling completely flattened the diurnal temp cycle during what is pretty much peak solar insolation. No bump!

There is a little warming in the last few hours, but that is due to lessening precip rates.
