LOL. 2nd half of June looks much drier, and if it rains on 8 of the next 10 days, half of that will be 5 mins of drizzle. No model is showing a wet pattern continuing.

If the ECMWF is right... we will have rain out here on almost every day in June even if the last few days end up dry (day 10-15).

I am trying to find a year that can match the historical data locally in terms of persistent rain.    2010 was bad and still does not match.      Can you think of a year for me to check?   Trying to find another year with no more than a 2-day break in the rain from April - June.    That takes incredible persistence in the overall pattern.    Not sure it exists.

If the ECMWF is correct... today and next Tuesday are probably the only days without rain.    And most of the days with rain are cloudy as well.

Scratch next Tuesday.   Here is the 10-day precip loop from the 00Z ECMWF.   Let me know the days when it won't rain.

Terrible. Crops are going to really start suffering soon.

That should get everyone fired up for the day! You’re welcome.

@BLI snowman can you give me a year going back to 1898 that would compare to this year out here in terms of persistent rain during April-June.    I haven't found one yet.   Maybe I am missing something though.    You are the stats king on here!

For number of rainy days (.01" or more) from April 1 to May 31, it looks like Cedar Lake is at 56. That is a record for them, but 1984 is close with 53. June 1984 was also a wet month, so that spring would probably be the best comparison to this in terms of persistence out there, along with 2010.

Thanks for confirming this is a record.   I realize the data for the station has not been updated for this month.   But to add to the record... there has only been 1 day without rain so far in June.

The second half of June in 1984 had 9 days without rain at that station.    We won't even come close to that this year... so the new record from April-June will be even more impressive.

Of course July of 1984 had 30 out of 31 days without measureable rain at the Cedar Lake station.   Only 1 day with rain and a monthly total of .03

That would be amazing.

Looks like drizzle or light rain. We had 0.17" yesterday, still ended up being a beautiful day.

Got down to 47 here this morning…cloudy and 52 currently. Slightly bummed the models have pulled back on precip here this weekend but we don’t really need it as much as it’s needed down south in the Eugene area anyways.

Just canceled my trip to Yellowstone and Jackson.  I guess they had a 1000 year rainstorm that washed out all the roads in the northern loop of the park.  Thank god for good cancellation polices.  But D**n, have you seen the video.  Some serious damage to the roads.  Wow!

Do you even do anything here besides try and cause problems? I’ve never seen you contribute anything of value other than trying to stir problems up. There is actual climate problems going on. We’re doing just fine here for the most part in OR and WA…the real crisis is down in the SW.

Cloudy and 55 over here in Orondo. Brrrrrr. Going out in the boat anyway, should hit the low 70’s today. Hopefully I will have a weather window to mow tomorrow afternoon when we get home…I’m sure it’s getting quite shaggy.

The pattern we have been in for what seems like an eternity will eventually ease and some nice summer weather will take hold.

It will feel like a much shorter summer this year though as we have lost so many potential days with 70's and sun to endless clouds and extremely wet weather.

A very strange pattern we've been in for sure.

12Z GFS continue to look totally reasonable... like past runs of the GFS.    Its a little damp and chilly from Friday-Sunday but it turns nice again early next week.     Makes sense.   Too bad the ECMWF does not agree and I am tired of falling for the GFS false promises.  😀

Come on now, we all know that the answer to the question “What do you call two consecutive rainy summer days in the Northwest” is “a weekend.”

Sure clouded up quickly. Now rain pushing across the coast range into the western willamette valley from about Salem-north.
