Yes, from our daughter's friend, who projectile vomited at the end of a playdate in North Bend. It seems to be making the rounds through the area though, I know it went through a few preschools out here recently. I don't recommend it unless you need to lose weight very quickly.

It’s literally the worse ever and I will never forget that week from hell 14yrs ago.

Is it spread by air?

The 12Z EPS is improved a little for each day next week... troughing stays a little farther north.    The control run... dare I say... is massively improved for later next week and weekend compared to its 00Z run.    All good signs that maybe this won't eventually fall apart.   Probably just jinxed it now.

No, unless you mean literal tiny particles of vomit in the air, then yes. It's mostly spread through contact with contaminated surfaces/foods or literal exposure to vomit particles. It's incredibly contagious. Once it's in your household, it'd be a miracle to avoid it.  I was the last one to get it and it was hard to watch the constant vomiting knowing from my children and wife, knowing that I would soon have my turn.

Wow... that is messed up.

Going to really savor every minute of today's rain. Could be the last meaningful precip here for a long time.

Exactly…have been enjoying the rain events in the first half of the month because eventually the faucet is gonna shut off most likely soon.

No fortunately. Just extremely transmissible on surfaces. I caught it when there was an outbreak at the Senior community I worked at and pretty sure it came from the time clock all of the staff including nursing staff used. It was a fingerprint scanner that even though was disinfected regularly it was still disgusting to use and you couldn’t wash your hands or use sanitizer before using it because it would not read your hand. I always washed and sanitized after each time but apparently it wasn’t good enough. They got rid of that system not long after since many of us complained.

Is that a slow retrogression of the high on the 12Z EPS?   And the pulsating egg is back.

Maybe a little bit? But it’s basically sitting over the same area for the next 2 weeks. Poor Texas. 😕

I suspect the Midwest and Great Lakes/NE might catch a break during the first half of July, before it comes roaring back with a vengeance in late July and August. Will be a close call here, we might get stuck on the warm side.

I wonder how all of the people here in Washington that (without getting political) decided to blindly move to Texas over the winter due to some of the things happening in this state are acclimatizing to that heat…

From the people I know that did that, I haven’t heard a peep after their initial posts on FB months ago about how amazing it is in Texas and were so glad they left the hellhole of the northwest…

The stories of outbreaks on cruise ships are horrifying. I had it once around 1999 or so and it is burned into my memory.

Not to sound like a broken record, but I think we are pretty much done with significant rain now. However, it looks like overall the marine influence will remain.

Really lucking out here after yesterday’s deluge.  Sunny and pushing 70 here. Hope it holds.

Jealous.

Even the ECMWF showed that weather down here today for many runs... but as usual any meaninful break slowly gets taken away as it get closer.   The trough just did not dig quite as far south as originally shown and the difference is pouring rain and 50s instead of sunny and near 70.

One would think the same model issues would happen again next week which would be spectacular... with the trough not quite digging as much as shown.   But if our recent luck is any indication... next week the trough will dig a little farther south than shown leading to wetter/colder weather.   🙄

On this day 5 year ago.   That was a nice spring and early summer in 2017.    It was wetter than normal in Seattle every month from February - June in 2017 but we had lots of long breaks in May and June.     This was right after the last big rainfall on 6/15/17 and we were about to embark on a very long dry spell that would last until the middle of September.   There would be rain on only 3 days here in the next 3 months after this pic was taken with a total of .15 and no rain at all in July.

Oh come on, just major wildfires in the South Umpqua Drainage, and half the Columbia Gorge burned. Plus we had the beautiful heatwave in August where Salem hit 107.

I’ve never had it, nor has anyone I know. Doesn’t sound fun, though.

Not downplaying Norovirus as I have had severe nausea and vomiting episodes myself in my lifetime, but Norovirus is just the fancy way of saying, stomach bug.

At least we avoided a September 1988 redux due to heavy smoke capping daytime highs in the mid-90s!
