Already sunny here this morning.

The 06Z ECMWF goes out through Monday evening.   It shows less rain than the last few runs and it lifts out a little faster than the 00Z run.    Still generally cloudy and cool on Sunday and Monday though.

OT but def one of the strangest Junes in memory imby.

No measurable precip on 27/30 days..unheard of here. And most of the precip (2.9”) fell on 1 night, due to training thunderstorms. Earth soaked it up like a dry sponge. The rest (~1.5”) fell in 2 other brief t-storms.

Safe to say, the biosphere ain’t happy right now. Goes to show how even near average rainfall can result in a very negative soil moisture balance if distributed poorly.

Holy crap. Any of y’all catch this?

It was lovely to look at. We had a pretty damn fine display last year too, with the light lingering to 11:45 or so.

My father in law (who’s actually sweltering in Italy right now) auctions off a huge Italian dinner every year for their church. And chicken cacciatore is always his main course. We honestly got pretty sick of it a couple years ago.

Love seeing this. It’s such a thread the needle situation with so much heavy rain so close but seeing the Euro back off at this stage is really good news.

What did the 6z Euro spit out for highs Sunday and Monday?

Actually finished -0.3°F here. Plains ridging often correlates to NW flow here. Especially during the first half of summer.

June was a big ouch for 80% of the US.

PNW and AZ/NM were the big winners.

h/t to Brian B for the map.

For June:

SEA: -0.9 with 184.1% normal rainfall.

PDX: +0.9 with 189.6% normal rainfall.

So around average temperatures with almost double the normal rainfall. Almost got to 200%.

Low of 39 in Sunriver this morning. Now 64

I love central OR. We stayed in Bend last week for a few days. Sitting out in the shade and wind in 85 degrees was about the chilliest 85 degrees I’ve ever experienced.

That climate is way more up my alley, but we’re not able to move due to family reasons.

Ended up with 4.28" of rain last month. That made it comparable in precipitation to December (4.35") and March (4.34") and just half an inch below January (4.82"). Currently my only two days with over an inch of rain this year are also from June.

I’ve talked about this before… but 90 degrees here or pretty much anywhere on the high plateau from Bend to Tahoe legit doesn’t feel hot at all. A typical 85 degree day in Portland area feels stuffier. The air is just so bone dry.

If I moved to Central Oregon it would probably be LaPine. North of Bend is just too deserty for me. But my wife grew up in K-Falls, so she's not a big fan of the high desert.

Kinda disappointed the euro took away our rainstorm here in the south sound but it kinda makes up for it with an overall showery pattern the days afterwards.
