I think of Bend looking similar to Cle Elum... but have not ever been to Bend.   I think it would be a great place to visit during Christmas break.

We don’t develop a cold pool as well as Cle Elum. Much more dependent on upper level temps. May not always get as much snow as NB but nice to at least see it in the air 20-30 times a winter.

Surprisingly PDX and SEA had the exact same amount of snowfall in 2016/2017!

I thought that PDX would have had a much higher amount than SEA, but I guess not. Was SEA and outlier for the Puget Sound on the high end? PDX was definitely on the lower end in the Portland area, they had 11.2", downtown had 15.5", and I had 18".

Euro looks warmer heading into mid July…but overall if it verifies through the next week the first 1/3 of the month should end up on the cool side. Should get a little more rain too. Kinda get the feeling after these precip chances coming in a few days we will be precip free for awhile but we will see.

It’s like being a Mariners fan. Except the Mariners went 142-182 during 2011 and 2012 and were entirely irrelevant.

Last 90-less summer here was 1976. Which, coincidentally (?), was the last year the Mariners didn't exist.

Speaking of hot dogs, the annual Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest is tomorrow. Joey Chestnut ate 76 🌭 in 10 minutes last year to set a world record. I'm hoping he can break it!

I know a few users here who would make Joey seem like an amateur.

Yeah, but at that point they’d NEVER missed the playoffs.

I always assumed there were no trees in Bend.  You learn something new every day.

Folks said that about K-Falls too. Central Oregon has more forest than where I lived.

I think the only parts of the PNW that are truly barren are far southeastern Oregon or towards the Idaho border.

K Falls is drier looking than Bend. But then you go over to the south and west side of the lake and there are a lot of trees.

In Bend it definitely depends on what side of town you are on. East of Hwy 97 is a lot drier, but there are a lot of ponderosa in Bend. It’s a nice town, but the crush of tourists can be pretty overwhelming if you go on a summer weekend.

If KLMT measures rain this morning, can someone find out when they last had any on 7/4? Probably the 1980's I'm guessing. lol

Pretty surprising. Looks like Mt Shasta City got 0.16” and Montague got 0.05”.

Last measurable rain on the Fourth at Klamath Falls was 1986 I believe.

I've had it very close to the 4th. But it was always convective when it happened, unlike the AM marine layer drizzle weird stuff that would occur in the lowlands.

I can remember some pretty wet t'storms on 7/5/2015. Thankfully most of the storms that year were gully washers.

That’s why my wife and I have always worked weekends. We have midweek to go hiking, skiing, etc. while it’s less crowded.

Joey won again, his 15th Nathan's Famous title, most ever in a single sporting event. Only ate 63 🌭 this year, 13 off his world record last year but he had a ruptured tendon and was on crutches. Still amazing!
