Partly sunny and 66 here after a cool low of 52. Should be heading for upper 70s today. Perfect weather for the 4th.

64 here, very pleasant, should get to around 70.  Definitely not the type of weather someone should run away from.

I thought you weren’t celebrating the 4th until America was a “theocratic Christian nation” again 😂

I should have stayed home. We had dueling pro life and pro choice marchers. Seriously wtf can we just enjoy a parade without this crap? Nice weather though!

Yeah would be nice to just enjoy the 4th without dueling political stuff just for one day.

There definitely seems to be a trend to retrograde that hott central US ridge westward toward the middle of the month.

I told u, mid-month heat spike incoming. 🔥

Good news is it’s the last hurrah of this subseasonal pattern state (which has favored ridging in NW Canada).

Everything basically reverses late July into August.

Never doubted it. I too have been talking about a mid month heat spike for awhile now. Ensembles have been rock solid.

Yeah the last 10 days could easily have ended up much warmer than they were. Guidance has been neutering the WPAC MJO/AAM rise (niña base state underestimated) with time, which may explain some of it.

Yeah, seems like there have been a couple junctures since the last heatwave were things could have easily evolved a lot warmer if energy had set up a little farther offshore. That includes next week which seems to be trending a bit lower with heights/eastward with cutoff energy at the moment.

Yeah... probably not even worth going.   My son just said UW is overrun with protesters wearing black.  Guess their message is America sucks.

This is why I don’t go out in public anymore 😂. I’m gonna watch the fireworks show down on the waterfront tonight but it’ll be from my friends house up the hill and not down right on the water. 66 now should be a good night.

June was definitely due for some balancing out. Still doesn't make June 2022 "average", as Phil said.

Remove that AR event and it was pretty close to average. And temperatures were right around average.

Remove that heatwave towards end of the month and they would have been below average...

Remove the last week of June 2021 and it was a chilly wet month.

Remove the last week of December last year and there was no snow in Seattle.  :(

Context of the convo you reference was that June was “miserable”.

I said it wasn’t too far removed from climo, minus that AR event earlier in the month.

You just like to argue for the sake of arguing.

HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY!

Hope everyone is enjoying their  freedom this fourth of July.  I can see from some of the great photos above, we have a vast array or events going on!  So great to see! Parades, relaxing at home, BBQs, etc.

To keep this weather related, it is 66F and partly sunny.  Parks and beaches are becoming packed with people.

Enjoy a funny patriotic ad below.  Take care everyone! 👍🇺🇸

New EPS weeklies even more bullish on the shift in tropical forcing around the dateline. Looks like it happens ~ July 20th, verbatim.

Ignore the 500mb look on the ensemble means right now. That will come into focus later.

12z EPS. Looking like the mid July heat event has potential to be a hefty one in terms of duration.

5 pack of 90s. Pretty normal in these times.
