Check out the difference between the 12z GFS and GEFS mean.

Once again the operational run is doing its own thing, and the biggest difference is (once again) over the NE-Pacific and inter mountain west.

Operational 18z GFS versus 12z EPS mean valid 00z 8/2.

Gee, it’s almost like we’ve seen this skit already.

So far just a Special Weather Statement from NWS but I assume there will be a heat watch soon. Looking at a prolonged period of 90s until Friday of next week and then after that, not much of a cooldown. Still low to mid 80s for the weekend.

Wildfires are pretty tame right now.  We'll see how it turns out this time next week.  There is currently only one fire that is over 1000 cars in Washington and Oregon combined.  There are, at the moment, no significant fires in either state.  All of the 'bigger' brush fires in Washington have been contained or controlled.  Oregon has a few uncontrolled fires, but all under 100 acres and one 1000 acre plus brush fire near Ontario.

Smoke models are looking good currently with all smoke blowing eastward from California and Idaho.  No smoke over Washington or Oregon.  Alaska's wildfire smoke output has dissipated.

Only 2 significant fires out west currently one in Idaho one in California…but they’re not the mega fires we’ve seen in recent years. Not bad for late July but we’ve got 4-6 weeks to go and the heatwave certainly won’t help.

Lol I think I’m 2-2 at mariners games in my life. Went to a couple astros games in 2017 when I was in Houston.  IIRC that was the season when they cheated and I was at one of their games while they were actively cheating and nobody even knew about it yet.

Revelling under this marine layer that I did not expect. Kind of taking it all in before the hellfire that's about to ensure.

Now that you are of age and with great wisdom, check my math. Traveling down to the SW and have chosen to hang out Bryce Canyon, Page and Flagstaff area. This looks to be and active area for the monsoonal storms during the period of 7/28-8/2.  8/2 will be the most important as I’m visiting Grand Falls this particular day.  Grand Falls is I believe ENE of Flagstaff.  Can you verify….I know they will be shooting off everywhere but looking for some sort of heart.  Thanks for any input from you or any others that have knowledge of the area.

Absolutely beautiful day. Morning marine layer finally gave way to afternoon sunshine. The marine layer was a bit late to burn away but it’s all good! I wish it’s always like this in the summer time. Next week will be hell.

I had actually forgotten so I had to look it up. I thought last year’s June heatwave featured some 90s as well before and after the 100s days.

guess not!

sandwiched in between the 3 consecutive 100s were an 87 before and 85 after.

this upcoming heatwave with 4-5 90+ days will be quite unusual.

There were 3 different waves in K-Falls. It's rare to start and end June with 95+.

June 1-3: 94, 95, 90
June 18-21: 92, 94, 97, 96
June 26-30: 94, 101, 103, 100, 94

And then other good ones continued in July but without touching triple digits after that big one.

I can't believe June 2015 still holds the record Mean temperature there, but only because the nights were warmer that year. There happened to be a larger spread in 2021.
