I’m up to 59!

Elevation 580’ Location a few miles east of I-5 on the Snohomish Co side of the Snohomish/Skagit border. I love snow/cold AND sun/warmth!

SLE on pace to finish July with a mean of 73.0. That would be 0.3F behind their all-time record July, set last year of course.

Of course PDX's hottest month will still be July 1985, which was during a Nina.

Good point.    Its tough to tell what is driving the patterns right now.    I will say that through June, this year was the complete opposite of 1985 in term of rainfall.   1985 is the second driest year on record in this area (just behind 1952).  We surpassed the entire rainfall total for all of 1985 back in May!

Yes, 1985 was an extremely dry year here too. It was also one of the coldest on record despite the hot summer.

I wonder if that fact that Phil is not screaming about a cold August might be a good sign for cooler weather next month.   😀

There is advantage to living close to friends and activities (not to mention the office), but in my case it also means living in the urban heat island, which frankly sucks, particularly during hot spells. Low of 11˚C in Sooke this morning. Really makes moving out there tempting right now.

I would move to Sooke to work for Kevin Wenstob

Got up to 90 yesterday, down to 61 overnight.  Things are definitely lagging behind previous days in terms of temp, only up to 75, when other mornings we were already up to 78-79 by about 7:30.

This heat is definitely sucking for my neighbors, some new town homes being built in the neighborhood burned last night, so there is a thick "burnt house" smell in the air.  Not a good situation for folks dependent on open windows to keep their house cool.

There has been a lot of lightning in the southern BC interior over the past 12+ hrs.  Forests have dried out considerably over the past couple weeks.  Fire danger is high to extreme in most of the province.

Well that’s not good…

EUG is only at 81? Gotta go down to Medford to find anything that hot currently.

The dewpoints have been pretty miserable though. Doesn't feel like a Western climate.

Springfield is typically warmer than the airport and we’re in the city with a bunch of concrete while the airport is several miles out of town to the NW.

And now the ECMWF has moved toward the GFS solution and shows the ULL moving inland on Monday... with some rain too.

12Z ECMWF is 9 degrees cooler for Monday at SEA than its 00Z run... and 12 degrees cooler for Tuesday.    It shows a solid marine layer all day on Tuesday now.

Timing moved up significantly.
