Record shattering all time heat last year... followed now by the longest heat wave in history.  In back to back Nina summers.    Pretty surreal even for someone who loves warm weather in the summer.

You seemed surprised.  seems pretty 'normal' to me at this point.  Hot summers, at least part of them is here to stay I'm afraid.  Just wait until we get a Super Nino summer,  oof

WILDFIRE UPDATE

NEW Known Wildfires started today! 7/31/22

Washington - 5 (Five new fires broke out with all posing no significant threat, one has been put out, and two have been controlled. No major fires. Thanks to many fires being put out, the total still is 18.) Total: 18

Oregon - 9 (Nine new fires including a fast moving and fast expanding fire in the Umpqua National Forest. It is being labeled the Potter Fire.  Of the nine new fires, six have been controlled or put out already. The major fire near Ontario that had been downgraded has shifted back to being a major fire. Total increases from 23 yesterday to 25 today.  Significant progress has been done on the major fires in Northern California along the Oregon-California border.) Total: 25

Idaho - 1 (One new fire west of Boise, but it has already been put out. Two fires that were downgraded in significance yesterday have increased to being major fires again.  There are two major fires in the state. Total fires decreases by one. ) Total: 9

British Columbia - 31 (Fires continue to increase, but thankfully many are naturally not spreading as BC Fire Crews are having a poor time at containing any actual fires.  There are two major fires, Lytton and Okanogan Falls which are named Nohomin Creek Fire and the Keremeos Creek Fire.  Many of the lightning sparked fires burned out. The total went from seventy one back down to sixty.) Total: 60

SMOKE UPDATE

Smoke models show significant smoke in BC and a possible smoke expansion from California into Oregon.  This big smoke push would happen in early August if things go as the models predict.  No smoke for Washington or Portland, Oregon metro.  The smoke would encompass central, souther, and most of eastern Oregon.

Seattle sets all-time record longest stretch of 90 degree highs at Six

Edit: I have no idea why the text is so large and I can't make it normal sized...

And PDX sets the all-time record of 95+ days in a row with 7 today

Impressive. 95+ at even 5 days straight is hard to do. I doubt this new record gets broken anytime soon.

Well I never thought we would see two record setting heatwaves in two years (although last year's was much more significant), so who knows!

Wow very surprised we’ve hit 95 here. I was expecting this to be the coolest day of the stretch but it’ll end up the hottest by far. Figured Friday or Saturday might hit 95 apparently it was today.

I’m stunned at how hot it got today as well. Models guidance showed Fri/Sat being the hottest. Today was very much on par. Christ.

Yeah very surprised…we’ve been 90-92 the past 5 days then all the sudden we pull off a 95. Went outside and I could tell it was hotter than the last few days. DP is lower however just 63.

Here in the foothills.

Hit 97 here yesterday with a DP in low 60s. Today we hit 95 with DP in the 50s. Should cool off even faster tonight. Really looking forward to Monday.

Looks like we finished this month +2.4. Thankfully things just look warm and not hot going into august.

With the new averages... +1.5 is top tier warm at SEA.
