Klamath Falls hit 100 today! Just 2 shy of a record of 102 in 1928.

This is two consecutive years in a row they have had 100+. I'm curious when that last happened.

I don't know if this was forecasted, but there is a nice crisp, cool breeze blowing in from I assume the NE.  Currently 75 at 9:20pm, but there is a nice chill breeze and it feels lovely after the heat blast today.

According to my station it actually hit 88F today, which was the forecasted temp for today.  Hit it at 6pm.  That is the hottest temp here since the last heat wave in 2021.  Tomorrow (Tue) is forecasted to be 83F with low 80s until Sunday.  So sadly no big cool off. Monday is showing 74F, and then the rest of the 10-day forecast is low 70s.  I'm already looking forward to that.

Yup! Haven’t been there before. I went through central Oregon last September but didn’t check out that area so I’m very excited for it. Gonna go up to ochoco lake and the painted hills area for one day…roll through bend on the way to Paulina peak. Then go to the lava lake/bachelor area for a couple days then finish the trip with a couple nights down near crater lake. Should be an amazing 9 days.

No petting the bears as they wonder through camp looking for leftovers ! Beautiful area

Enjoyed the day up at Sparks Lake today with my dog. Water temp was around 60-65 depending on depth, sat it the water with a few drinks. It was nice to get out of the heat down in town.

Best monsoonal thunderstorm in a few years just moved through. I was out filming near downtown Denver but unfortunately my phone ran out of storage space after a couple videos.

This is what it looked like moving in, probably 3x more intense about 5 min later. Ended up getting .47" in 30 minutes at the house!

What a time for the phone storage to max out…..ugh :(

Cool videos!!!

Storage space has become an issue for me as well.    My wife keeps telling me to delete pictures of clouds from 2 years ago.  😀

I think some places in the Puget Sound and the Willamette Valley had more than a foot of snow with the Feb 1989 blast. Not sure what happened with PDX though.

Yeah, Puget Sound did well in 88-89.

Downtown Seattle snow totals those winters.

Events like this are really hard on me. Maybe I should take a break the rest of the heat wave. Or at least just go back to daily obs and model analysis.

The 00z models improved, I figured you’d be doing the macarena right about now.

I care way more about improvements in the believable range. Couldn’t care less about phantom highs in the 70s at hour 240 when potential 100 degree days are being steadily stacked on this weekend and beyond.

Glad I have a 6:30-2:30 work schedule this week since I work outdoors. Really understandable why siestas are a thing in parts of the world where this weather happens every single day.

Sadly the Siesta is becoming a thing of the past.  Having worked in landscaping and agriculture in the summer in Georgia, I wish it was something we did.  I ended up getting wrecked by triple digit heat while landscaping, and I couldn't tolerate hot weather after that (one of the main reasons I moved to the PNW).

Finally back down to 70 here at 10:45pm, after a high of 93.  I think the fact it is taking so long to cool down is the most impressive part of the day.  I  think the most depressing part is that usually the hottest day is right before the big marine crash, which isn't happening this time.  DRAT!

Long day, I  think its time to pour myself a dram and toddle off to bed.

Tomorrow is going to be very interesting.   It seems like once the marine layer clouds reach SEA... it knocks at least 10 degrees off the previous day high even if it clears out by 8 a.m. and its sunny all day.   What happens tomorrow will likely be repeated for the next 4 or 5 days.

Reminds me of the smoke. Last year our temps were knocked down compared to what was being forecasted. Cloud may be different and it’ll still be hot.

Today wasn’t so bad being so warm and a bit breezy. I was thankful for my water shoes though. Had like 20 baby leeches on them.

I have to do the same during periods that I don’t like. It’s a nice mental health break when I take a few days off and reset.

I got to go to my first Dodgers game in over a decade when I visited my parents recently. Down 5-0 and 8-3 and came back to win. Was amazing attending a game like that.

The strength of these trade winds is downright incredible. Haven’t seen anything like this in July during the post-WWII era, and in all likelihood not in the entire post-LIA era.

Salem also had 9.6" of snow that winter, I guess Portland just didn't do that well. Looks like the November 1977 event didn't really do anything in Seattle either.
