I saw quite a bit of monsoon activity when I visited the desert SW in 2018.

A total stunner of a day here 75/57 spread with morning clouds and even some spotty drizzle giving way to afternoon sunshine.

Bracing for the next week, but at least it seems the models are starting to come to some sort of agreement about when this thing might end.

As you know, monsoonal thunderstorms are typically quite localized and transient. The period of your visit does still look to be active, and the storms tend to be more numerous and intense in the afternoons and over higher terrain, but beyond that, it's impossible to nail down specifics at this range. Check local conditions carefully each day, including whether storms pop up on radar immediately upstream of any waterfalls you visit. Flash floods can strike without warning in weather that is clear and sunny at the site of the flood.

Very excited to head back to the SW while the storms are brewing!! Will do my best to stay out of trouble especially when I’m near waterways.  According to the campground I’m staying at inside the park (Bryce Canyon) theirs no internet or cell service. So I’m assuming daily visits to the visitor center to get what weather info I can get.

5 years ago already?!? 7/24/2017 was one of the best t'storm events I had when I lived in the northwest. Shortened video here but you can find longer ones in higher quality on my channel.

That was a hot summer but not without precip and great storms in southern Oregon. They had a wet early August with 2 storms within 48 hours of each other flooding downtown. Much different than just the next year after that (2018 was dry, hot and smokier).

Did of course take pictures while that shelf cloud was coming thru. That was fun to be buzzed (had red wine that day) and have all this.
