That much vorticity dropping out of AK can be a little concerning for the #one90july cultists.

12Z EPS keeps it farther north... but still looks warm later in the run.

Control run is vastly different than its 00Z run at day 10... and has the same general idea as the operational run... but does not look quite as hot.

My grandpa talks about November 1985 a lot…he lives out in graham and he says that’s the probably the craziest stretch of winter he’s ever seen. For his location atleast (900’) February 2019 was pretty darn good too.

I have to say the last five years have been pretty amazing for winter weather in the Puget Sound region. Maybe only February 2019 rivals some of the really epic events, but at my house at least I’ve had three pretty memorable snowstorms since moving here in 2017. I can’t recall another stretch like that in such a short window.

The winter that went down as legendary before it even began…

I remember being super excited that it happened so early and was convinced that it was going to stay cold and snowy all winter. Didn’t end up being the case…

It’s been a great run. Hopefully this winter can end up with something big before we get our eventual regional bust. Really hoping for something in February too we’ve had 6 years in a row with measurable snowfall in February would be cool to make it 7.

Some late July heat feels like a good possibility to me.

12Z EPS gets significantly warmer in the 10-15 day period... similar to its 00Z run.

Late July into early August is typically our hottest and driest time of the year.

Sounds nice.  Both stretches of hot weather this year have coincided with illness in our house.  Late June brought a wicked stomach virus that left me so dehydrated I could barely move.  Today, pretty sure I’ve got Covid.  My daughter has it and I’m starting to feel it too. 🤦‍♂️

12z Euro says it might be awhile before we see any sub-80 highs again. At least no heatwaves in sight after today and tomorrow.

Pretty big outlier at 500mb vs EPS, though.

And D11-15 is going to be absolute hell for guidance to catch accurately (prograding CCKW w/ standing wave quasi-retrograding back into IO..bizarre s**t).

Yea my wife had it 3 weeks ago.  I didn’t get it.  Now the kids probably got it at daycare and passed it along.  We had actually totally avoided it until these past 3 weeks.

Seems like it! If you didn’t get the initial strain you’re likely to get the variant. All of the people in my office were out for couple weeks because someone got it beginning of July.

Even my nieces. Ages 17, 14, 12, 8 got it. 🤣

I had it like 2 weeks ago and had 0 symptoms. Guess now that it was my 3rd time with it I have some immunity.

That was a fun south valley special. I remember it changing over overnight as precip rates picked up.
