Looks like this system managed to lay down some snow for our members in SE MI as the storm intensifies and wraps up near OH.  Niko should cash in on a couple inches from this.

LES starting to kick in the snow belts of SW MI/NW IN.

Tom, indeed!!! I will be cashing in very nicely with a couple  of inches of snow. Right now, I have almost near blizzard conditions outside with very strong winds and moderate to heavy snow. A lot of blowing and drifting of the snow also. Everything is snowcovered and approaching an inch and counting. Its funny how it went from wet to white in a matter of seconds!! Not minutes, but seconds. Fascinating to say the least.

BTW..My extended shows lots of snow chances. Fun times ahead!!

Getting some light lake effect here now.

It going it be interesting to see just how this weeks lake effect sets up and how the NWS handles it. Not sure about how much snow GR proper will get in the next week but there is a good bet that some places in west Michigan should receive almost a foot of snow.  In fact it may (and of course it may not) be the snowiest  week of this winter. (hint don’t look the models and their snow fall maps and think that is what will happen)

Awesome!  Glad most of us around the Lakes were able to cash in some snow fall from this storm.  It's amazing what a phased storm will do which is why you got that rapid turn over.  What coulda been if this storm phased earlier on.  Anyhow, hopefully next go around in LRC Cycle #3 March will open like a Lion!

Congrats Nikos!

For mby, nasso much..

Despite complaints on the crappy trends from mid-range, have to give kudos to the shorter range models. They kept showing a screw zone over Calhoun, and they nailed it. That first wave rode the quasi-stationary cold front right up to over mby, then rapidly yielded to the southern energy and I/we got a classic non-storm. Coating to an inch, spot on with the 0.6" amounts showing last evening. By the time I got up at 8, wasn't even snowing. It only beat the Christmas Eve fail bomb in one way - snow was melted by 9am Christmas Day, this time it's not. From my memory, these are the kind of storms that actually can give SEMI a better shot than one wound-up system. Enjoy shoveling - I'm warming up the broom. http://www.uswxforums.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/default/wink.png  (and to add insult to injury, didn't see a single flake fall cuz such a short burst) http://www.uswxforums.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif

Only consolation prize is that every one of my local NWS extended period icons is snowflakes. Been two years since I've seen that. Big of LOT to issue that statement via fb too. Nice office there, but they all busted in some way, looks like DTX's will be the best bust from a snow-lover's perspective.

Wow, talk about a huge bust in those warnings. Hopefully you'll do good with LES today.

Snow has ended IMBY, but it is very windy with blowing and drifting snow. Total snowfall measured 2.9". That is perfect right before the arctic air arrives. Now, it will look like January. I was out shoveling and that snow is very powdery in nature. Hello Winter!! :D
