KSEA topped out at 81F with midlevel convection and thin smoke blotting out what otherwise would have been a day in the upper 80s.

Tomorrow we'll cool some more, potentially avoiding 80F altogether. Thursday hopefully we avoid 70F.

Only 1 day over 100 here so far, that was in June, and only 4 other days over 90 total this summer, so far....  this latest "heat wave" had the perfect balance from here to the coast to make it not so oppressive like most of you have had to deal with.  Wish we had gotten more than 1 day over 90 during this latest stretch though, but nope.  Crazy thing was on a couple of the days, it was 80 here, and 90-93 just 7 miles east in Montesano!!

Btw it looks like we’re having a big family gathering in Everett next summer! And possibly another excursion in Leavenworth as well. Haven’t been up there since 2019, am looking forward to it already.

Only time I’ve ever experienced non-tropical weather in July during the last 20+ years was in the NW. Would be nice to steal another few weeks!

Leavenworth from Everett? Gonna be passing by me, feel free to say hi!

That first cool week of July saved K-Falls from breaking their record warmest. Still ended up being top-tier with a mean of 70.

Warmest Julys KLMT
#1: 2014 - 71.5 (high 90.6)
#2: 2021 - 71.0 (high 91.7)
#3: 1959 - 70.5
#4: 2013 - 70.3 (was #3 until last year)
#5: 2022 - 70.0 (high 90.3)

Honerable mentions of 2017, 2003, and 2006 have means 69.3 (yup, the same down to the tenth degree). 2017 is placed above for warmer average high than 2003 or 2006 (89.2 vs. 87.5 or 86.5).

At least PDX avoided 90 today. A small victory. F*ck you heat!!!

88/66 here with smoky haze, some clouds and even a brief shower in the late morning. Would be nice to drop the low a little lower by midnight.

11 straight will have to wait for a nino.

To think 11 years ago, a July with an average high of 81.0 (63.9 mean) occurred the first year I lived there. Those summers almost seem impossible yet it wasn't that long ago. 1993 even had an average high of 79.0.

Looks like things are clearing up out there just in time for another run at 90 🥰

Looks like your town got a major shoutout from a youtuber that won't stop exposing all the best places to live. (He mentioned Gold Bar in the top rural towns in Washington and I about had a stroke)

Marine layer creeping inland on the WA coast and lots of fun monsoon activity. Can see those showers that popped up over western OR too.

Just read that there are 50+ new fire starts today in Siskiyou County because of all this convective activity. Too much lightning and not enough moisture thus far with this monsoonal surge.🙁

I'm so ready for fall.😏

Cold Season 2023/24:

Total snowfall: 26"

Highest daily snowfall: 5"

Deepest snow depth: 12"

Coldest daily high: -20ºF

Coldest daily low: -42ºF

Number of subzero days: 5

At my new place, July looked a bit over average but not insanely above. We run a normal July Mean temperature of 75.0 in Ashland, and last month was 77.3. Only 7 days I counted were over 90 degrees so it hasn't been really hot since mid or late June.

In Kentucky we can also get larger departures from normal, so anything 1-3 degrees over is probably taken pretty lightly around here. But a month 5-8 degrees over is a pretty warm one. I'm still getting used to information out here, and didn't know until days ago that we averaged so much summer time rainfall.

30 days until it starts! Even in the second half of august though you can start to notice the transition with longer days. We’ve lost 1 hour of light since the solstice and will lose another hour in the next 3 weeks which starts putting a damper on any heatwaves.

Yeah real heat becomes pretty difficult by the time you reach the second half of August here. Low temps really start to drop off the second half of this month with the longer nights as well. Just gotta get through the next couple of weeks!
