Kind of a bummer to see the ECMWF trend west with the storms tomorrow night at the last minute.  Still a fair shot for the Seattle area though.

Interestingly... the GFS shows 89 in Olympia tomorrow and the ECMWF shows 88.

So they are actually in agreement for that area.

101? Pretty mild day for Lake Havasu in August…

Indeed. 110’s are more typical there. Also typical for it to not cool down much at night in the Colorado River Valley.

I remember one time long ago driving back from a family road trip to coastal California from New Mexico. Had the windows of the car open on the warm desert night because even though it was still in the 80’s Fahrenheit, the sun was down and the fresh air felt good. Then we started dropping down into Needles and it just got hotter and hotter. Had to roll up the windows and put the A/C back on. It was midnight and still well above 90˚F.

Was also baking hot in the middle of the night the one time I passed through Needles on the train in the summer.

It's called clown range for a reason.

Problem is, the ULL driving all this isn't swinging fully inland. That means the best lift will be confined to the coast and over the Ocean. Kind of unfortunate.

Is it raining there?   That band moved westward through my area and I don't think any of it reached the ground.

Its still approaching here, just to the South, but the SDOT cams look like Seattle is barely wet.

Portland may be "in for it" soon, hopefully these survive to Seattle somewhat intact too!

The HRRR and the WRF GFS were the most insistent on some convection today morning I think, looks like they might be right!

Portland still forecast to reach 88 today.

Portland underperformed and only hit 88 yesterday so I guess this doesn't really count as a "heatwave" anymore because only 2 days were above 90 according to Mark Nelsen's definition. Still basically a heatwave in my opinion though.
