00Z GFS shows a solid marine layer day up here tomorrow like the ECMWF.    Low clouds hang tough through the entire afternoon.  Going to be a cool day for the EPSL.   Some people will express surprise tomorrow... but its right there in the models.   ;)

Speaking of training cells... That storm NE of Salem is dumping a biblical amount of rain over the same area. Pretty strange setup.

73/55 on the day. The high here at home was only two degrees higher than the low at Orondo this morning! 
Currently 63.

Elevation 580’ Location a few miles east of I-5 on the Snohomish Co side of the Snohomish/Skagit border. I love snow/cold AND sun/warmth!

Another view of the ECMWF... the initial blow up happened a little farther east than shown.    But this probably gives us a good idea how this will evolve going forward.    Its coming north.

That is excellent analysis Tim. Looks like it was about 20 miles too far west.

I loved the back and forth with Jon's points about the U.S. being total hypocrites about our stated goals and framed arguments for our actions, and David's simple response is "And so we've got to make a really hard and bad choice, which is, do we want to be the one trying to-- to fill that void with our technology and our principles, understanding that we violate them all the time? Or do we want to let an authoritarian regime go fill that space, which we know how that's going to look?" A simple yet incredibly hard to refute response. We are the most benevolent imperialist power. We f*ck up a lot of stuff around the world, but do you want them to fix things or us? The other interesting point that is pretty obvious is that China will throw as much as it can into catching up to TSMC, whether it is by ingenuity or theft, and as soon as they are, Taiwan is theirs. Will the U.S. go to war over that? Dunno. There's no going back to fix our mistakes, and competition is really heating up around the world. The next few decades are going to be very interesting.

      April 2024 Weather in the PNW

      Ensembles look a little better for rainfall chances later this week than the operational. Although the trend lately has been for everything to warm up and dry out as it approaches so it wouldn’t surprise me to see this meet the same fate.
