How big does the hail usually get in Kentucky?

My county (Boyd) is a bit on the lower end of hail sizes in reports. But I think at least once a year we get something around nickel-quarter size. One of the neighboring counties will see a 2+ inch hail sometimes.

In 2016 Lawrence County had baseball size hail. I think the general idea is that if you live in smaller communities, and off major highways, the storms are more severe.

Western KY also gets more severe wx. The last higher end tornado to occur within 100 miles of my area was in 2012 I think.

Overall it seems like models were slightly far to the west with the convection, I'm really glad Eugene and Seattle did really well. I would've liked some storms to show up here but I at least saw a few flashes of lightning and had some light rain which was nice.

*Tacoma did well... nothing yet in NE Seattle other than rain (which is nice on its own).

I guess its not always the one stop towns that get hit hard. Danville KY had 3" hail in 2015. They have a population not far from Ashland's.

Next week's heatwaves seems a bit long... not as long as the July one though yet. But that one ended later than expected so who knows

The 12z EURO trended cooler for PDX next Thu/Fru compared to the 00z. Instead of low 100s, it's showing upper 90s on Thu and low 90s on Fri. Wed did trend warmer and is showing 99 though.

Been constant (mostly) distant rumbles for over an hour now as I washed Eastern Wa off my truck and jetski. Sun popping now and 66.6 degrees…

Elevation 580’ Location a few miles east of I-5 on the Snohomish Co side of the Snohomish/Skagit border. I love snow/cold AND sun/warmth!

Euro definitely toned down the heat might not even hit 90 here if that verifies. Shows a little precip coming up this weekend it looks like.

I didnt notice last nights EPS run but you can clearly see it backing off a bit last two runs. Watching 12z closely...

Anything to take the edge off this. Enjoying the reprieve from it feeling like endless 90F+ days.
