DP dropped from 42 to 9 in 15 minutes early this morning while the ambient temperature dropped one degree. That seems pretty close to impossible.

The station is on a bridge on the Columbia river in the middle of a desert so I’m sure wind switches cause some big humidity swings when the wind switches from off the water to off the desert but looking closely that station does seem pretty wonky an inaccurate in that regard.

According to this station nearby it was. Yesterday evening it recorded an 87 degree temp and -10 degree DP.

No chance that's accurate, I would imagine as a smaller weather station that their hygrometer simply isn't the most accurate.

Subzero dewpoints for the Basin would almost have to require some really deep offshore flow and means of upper level advection. A typical ambient summer airmass out there will produce dewpoints in the 30s and sometimes 20s but rarely anything below that.

If you look at Moses Lake, their lowest dewpoint this weekend has been 37, 37 at Wenatchee, and 39 at Ellensburg. So a very good chance that that area would have been in the 35-40 range as well.

The GFS is a turd sandwich.  Hopefully it will go back to the better solutions for the end of the month like we were seeing.

Still nothing in sight for the Atlantic.  Could be one of the very few dud years with a Nina in place.  As long as that Eastern trough is there it will probably remain dead.

No doubt it blows.  Probably a couple of marine pushes in there, but not great.

Time is running out for smoke season. Got to get those forests dried out and the fires going!

It's bloody dry now.  If we have a Canadian clipper later on it could get critical.  Is there any such thing as a middle ground this year?

I’m cautiously optimistic that my trip to central Oregon in 3 weeks won’t be too smoky.

We could still avoid a bad fire season, but the pattern being shown is frustrating.  Probably going to be one of those summer to cold in one day type of years, but it might take a while.

Still haven’t seen one on all my journeys down south and I’ve spent plenty of time in their environment. One hike I even looked for them among the crevices of rock.  In Havasu when I checked into my cabin the door was open…..first thought was open invitation for snakes.  Went in with my flashlight checking everything.  Lol, at 3am when I had to use the restroom about 200 yards away I was definitely on snake alert as well and checked all corners of the restroom.  Cool creatures but I hate the dance they make you do when surprised by them

Another round of strong La Niña forcing coming up. Very well entrenched through the E-Hem so it will effectively preclude any WWB/DOKW development.

Strong La Niña winter seems imminent now.

The nursing home I use to work at was at the mouth of the San Gorgonio Pass. The winds would switch at night sometimes. It could be in the low 50s then the wind would switch to westerly and make it almost 80° from all the desert heat. Eventually it would go back to easterly and cool off again.
