65 is closer to average for your area than 95.

You always go right to the extremes!    There has been only a couple days at or above 95 here this summer.   I did not like those days either.   And I still think 60s is too chilly for my liking in the summer.   But technically normal is pretty close to 80 at the peak of summer and that actually is the half way point between your extremes.  👍

Facebook reminded me that on this date in 2012 we had a low of 37.

Fall of 2012 was odd. We had an extraordinary dry stretch until the 12th of October and then the heavens opened. Quite a bit of wildfire activity in September that year unfortunately.

I never leave games, even if it's a blowout. You never know what you might miss.

Besides, I paid for the ticket, and I was willing to watch the game for longer anyways, might as well enjoy myself no matter what.

Looks better overall than this time last week. Atleast there’s actually potential for cooler weather in the extended depending on how far east that trough over the pacific moves in…and there’s a decent cooldown coming this weekend.

Got married the first week of October 2012, the weather was perfect! Low 70’s and sun. That was the last dry weekend we had for 2012 I believe so we really lucked out! Our lower field was looking pretty dry at that point but was green again a few weeks later, and my driveway was partially under water a month later!

Elevation 580’ Location a few miles east of I-5 on the Snohomish Co side of the Snohomish/Skagit border. I love snow/cold AND sun/warmth!

Yeah... there was quite an exodus last night after the Mariners batted in the 7th.    Probably happens every game regardless of the score.  You go through all that hassle and time and expense to be at the game and then leave well before the ending?   What if the Nationals had tied it up and then the Mariners win on a walk off homerun in the bottom of the ninth and you were at the game and left in the 7th inning.   Might as well not even go.  😃

I left the NFC championship game against the Packers midway through the 4th Q in 2014. I'm still getting a lot of shiit from my buddies still. tbf, it wasn't my fault I had to leave ;)

Got married at your house? We did too. A lot better than paying a zillion bucks for a venue. Given the amount of booze my wife wanted to have on hand I shelled out for a $2million event insurance policy and made sure our server was OLCC licensed. @umadbro ended up sleeping in the bounce house.

Not a fire season ending rainfall but will still put a damper on it atleast. There’s still that fire near Waldo lake that could use some rain so this is good.

Looks toasty in the long range after that, but any rain is good news at this point in the year. Very rare to see a wet first half of September though, it can happen.

Have a feeling we'll get a warm fall, unfortunately. Haven't torched hard during that season in a good few years. In particular, Octobers 2017-21 have been generally tame, with a couple pretty chilly ones in there (2019, 2021) and no exessively positive anomalies.

Perhaps that'll bode well for the winter for the 3rd year Nina.. or we'll just continue that straight into a Nino and we'll all burn next spring/summer.  🤔

I thought October 2020 was warm, unless only a few locations had a warm one.

But yeah, Octobers since 2016 have generally been one of the cooler months out of the year. I hope last year's October repeats with another wet one in the MFR viewing area.

No snow during the Nov 2010 blast? or March 2011? I remember the snow levels being down to 1000' in the Sierra during the March 2011 storm series

We were too far south and too low in elevation both times. Was a rough stretch for this area but we've gotten back to normal in the snowfall dept since.

The lack of a sub-freezing high is just astounding and on one hand I'm intrigued to see how long we can go without one and how difficult that streak will be to break even in the warming climate.

Last fall was not chilly here. September and November were quite warm and October was around average. I would be surprised if October is dry. My guess is we see a fall more like 2012 or 2016. Both years were quite wet once the faucet did turn on. If we really are in a 1930s background state as Jim says, then we ll probably either have a very wet or very dry fall... At this point I would hedge towards wet, probably starting in early to mid October.

A solid November would be a nice change. November 2019 was fairly cool, but fairly dull overall. Historically our area can score in November but it’s been a very lame month during the time I have lived here. A lot of that is due to wavelengths and that cold onshore flow is more likely later on in the season, but even that notwithstanding the past decade has been pretty weak.

It’s pretty rare to get November winter weather action down here but it can happen. Pretty sure there was snow in both Nov 2003 and 2006.

Typically we would want it around Thanksgiving or so because before that it’ll often be too warm.

Been a long time since I’ve seen a good November snowstorm. Bring it!

It's called clown range for a reason.

It did snow in Eugene in 2010. I went to the Arizona/Oregon game the day after thanksgiving and there were piles of snow behind the end zones, and my brother lived there and said it snowed about an inch.

It snowed in Medford in the Nov 2010 storm. Eugene just formed a bubble around that snow.

Must’ve been more Eugene-based then, which can happen even just a few miles away. Even where I was at in the N Willamette Valley at the time we had some flakes but they melted on contact.

The official records don’t show any snow for the date. Tho that might’ve been during that 1996-2012 stretch when snow totals stopped being recorded because after like 2002-03 they figured there wasn’t any point anymore after 7 years with nothing at the time.

So it did over there! Not at Tiger's place. :P

Yeah. We had to chain up the uHaul going down I97, southern Oregon got buried so most of the PNW had snow during that.

I think Pdx had 0.3” with the November 2010 “event.” In silverton we had about 3/4”. Wasn’t much anywhere in western Oregon. The heaviest snow amounts were 1-2” from about Corvallis to eug along the stalled arctic front. Sub freezing highs were Salem north. Corvallis did well in February 2011 too.

Well December 1972 and 2013 weren't that many days away from November so I'd think something like that could happen a few days earlier. I haven't seen much November snow while living here either besides maybe a 1/2" in 2019.

I haven’t had more than 1/2” of snow in November since 2015.

It all flips around too. We got nailed on 2-25-19 which was pretty mundane further north.

Wow, that must've been amazing to experience! 20" of snow in a few days at the end of February!

At one point it was like giant snowballs falling there were so many flakes stuck together. Never seen anything else like it and I never imagined it was gonna be that much. The models kept showing the pepto totals here and then it happened.
