I was out and about all day and while doing so, I enjoyed this peaceful snowfall.  Nice med/large sized dendrites that started falling just after 2pm or so that were extremely fluffy.  Just measured 1.5" IMBY...exactly what I was hoping for.

The GFS/Euro/NAM had this one right last night.

Heavy snow in the last 10 minutes. Looks like LES.

1.9" as of 9pm. No doubt up to 2" now.

I would have thought a lot of locations in Cook County and DuPage County would be over 2" by now...

This little clipper over performed in N IL...wasn't expecting to see widespread 2-3" totals.  Hopefully this helps establish a little better snow cover for the larger system later this week.

It's been snowing here in varying intensity for the last 9-10 hours...now the winds are cranking blowing/drifting snow!

Some totals...

Observed snow amounts as of 6-7 a.m. this morning:

Chicago O'Hare Airport - 3.2 in

3 mi southwest of Midway Airport - 3.1 in.

Romeoville - 2.5 in

Rockford - 1.4 in.

LOL - I give.  3.5" fluffy stuff the past 24hrs for this "mega-clipper Lehs storm". You guys got about the same it seems. Surely would've thought the warm lake could double the amounts for me downwind, but alas, another "meh" situation plays out. I will say that mby has been missed more than hit by LES the past 2 winters. (this and last I mean).
